Koobara Kindy Koobara has grown into a strong and well‑respected community hub.

Welcoming thousands of little and big feet through our doors running, playing, performing, preserving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's culture and traditions since 1974. Established in 1974, Koobara Kindergarten is a not-for-profit community-controlled organisation based on Brisbane's northside. Our Kindergarten offers a range of services with a specific focus on early childhood educ

ation using a culturally-responsive and Indigenist approach. Koobara offers an Indigenous playgroup on Mondays, and a Community Afternoon Program (fortnightly Tuesdays).

Hi my Deadly Playgroup Families,

Playgroup is on tomorrow, Wednesday 16th September, from 10:00am – 12:00pm. This will be our final playgroup session before the school holidays.

We'll be taking a short break and will return in October. Keep an eye on our page for updates.

Hey Koobara families! Just a friendly heads-up that Playgroup is happening tomorrow Wednesday, 26th August 2026 from 10am to 12pm—and we’re bringing the EKKA magic to our little mob! 🎠🎈
Expect a morning packed with fun, laughter, and Ekka-themed activities your Jarjums will absolutely love.

📚 It’s also Book Week, so don’t forget to dress up your little ones as their favourite book characters! Whether they’re a cheeky Gruffalo, a brave explorer, or a magical wizard, we can’t wait to see their creative costumes.

🚐 Need a lift? We’ve got transport available within our catchment area—just give Jess a call to book.

📚✨ Book Week fun at kindy this week! We had a brave pirate, our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, a heroic Captain America and the beautiful Princess Jasmine heading off for a week filled with stories, imagination and adventure.

The jarjum have loved dressing up as their favourite characters and bringing the magic of books to life. So many smiles, laughs and wonderful memories have been made already!

Saturday 15th of August was our 2nd parent workshop to decorate their child/children’s Head Band and Clap Sticks in preparation for the Wunya Baby and Child to Country Ceremony. Parents that attended were very busy and enjoyed the opportunity to use the burners to be creative whilst their children were busy playing.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers.

If your Baby or Child/ren have been registered for the 2026 Wunya Baby and Child Ceremony we would like to remind you that there are only 4 more decorating workshops left to get your gift ready for your children.

The remaining workshop dates are:
• Saturday 22nd August 10-2pm
• Saturday 29th August 10-2pm
• Saturday 5th September 10-2pm
• Saturday 12th September 10-2pm
