🚨🦺Massive Training Update🚨🦺

Yesterday afternoon members from Tabulam SES completed their course in Road Crash Rescue (RCR) and were all deemed competent!
Members spent two weekends learning things such as;
- Casualty Care
- Rescue Techniques
- Ensuring Scene Safety
- Preparing and Responding to an RCR.
And much more…

This is one of the final courses required for Tabulam SES to come back online for General Land Rescue!

And we greatly appreciate the Trainers and Assessor’s, and assisting volunteers from all around who give up their time to run these courses as well!
Urbenville SES Unit, NSW SES Lismore City Unit, NSW SES Casino Unit NSW SES Kyogle Unit

In just 4 weeks we expect to be back online and back in the community to help where it’s needed most, significantly reducing rescue response time frames.

🚗🚨This also means Tabulam SES will now need some support from the community with wrecked / scrap vehicles to use for training, we will be required to complete RCR training 1x a month at minimum to stay accredited and current with the Rescue Board requirements.

Any vehicles used for training will be scrapped after and the money from scrap will be provided to the person who donated the vehicle!

Contact us on messenger, or pop into the rescue shed to find out more about how you can help!

🚨🦺Callout🚨🦺

Yesterday morning Tabulam SES received two callouts within the same hour for leaking roofs.

First job: Members arrived to find that a few sheets of tin on the roof were not secured properly allowing water to enter under the flashing into the house, members did their best to secure the areas that were leaking and referred the resident to contact a roofer to ensure no leaks happen in the future!

Second job: there was a small leak around the chimney of a house, members used some silicone to temporarily fix the leak and referred the member to get the issue fixed.

Later that evening members attended weekly training and practiced setting up roof kits, an integral safety component used when getting on roofs for similar jobs. (Photos from training night)

Tabulam SES wishes to pay respect to those lost, and the family, friends and communities mourning such a tragic loss.

May they rest in peace

Last night was the darkest night ever experienced by Marine Rescue NSW.

Marine Rescue NSW volunteers answer the call for help 24/7 and last night six members from Marine Rescue Ballina did just that. They launched with a single mission, to save lives on the water and assist a yacht, reported to be in difficulty off the South Ballina break wall.

Tragically, two of our volunteers lost their lives during the response.

Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Todd Andrews said the devastating loss is a solemn reminder of the risks faced by volunteers who serve their communities.

“These two men were serving their local community and have made the ultimate sacrifice to help others.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of the deceased, their fellow crew members, the brave radio operators who handled the difficult communications during the incident, the entire Marine Rescue NSW family and the wider Ballina community during this incredibly difficult time.

“We are supporting our volunteers and their families through professional counselling and chaplaincy support.

“We ask that the privacy of those involved and their families be respected during this difficult time,” Commissioner Andrews said.
