Since the start of August Stuart River Rural Fire Brigade has been responded to 19 Triple Zero calls. 12 of those calls have have been for escaped hazard reduction burns. It's a good reminder that even in the cooler months a fire can quickly escalate and become out of control. Ensure that you are meeting the conditions of your permit by following the fire wardens requirements for adequate fire breaks, suitable weather conditions, and appropriate resources to contain the fire before you light up. And please remember - if you lose control of your burn and need assistance - call 000 as soon as possible.
