🌊 Today is World Oceans Day, and we celebrate not only our oceans but also the incredible wildlife that depends on them.

But celebration must be matched with action.

We're calling on the NSW Government to urgently establish a protected marine sanctuary at Terrigal Haven to protect critically endangered Grey Nurse Sharks and other vulnerable marine life.

If you've ever visited or swum at Terrigal Haven, you know how special it is. Its clear waters and thriving reef provide habitat for Grey Nurse Sharks, Green Turtles, Blue Groper, seadragons, dolphins, and migrating humpback whales.

Yet this important marine habitat remains completely unprotected.

Earlier this year, the community was devastated when images emerged of a dead Grey Nurse Shark on the rocks at Terrigal Haven with a hook in its mouth. Around the same time, multiple Grey Nurse Sharks were spotted swimming with hooks and wire tracers still embedded in their mouths.

Grey Nurse Sharks are critically endangered. Only around 1,420 adults remain along Australia's entire east coast. Every injury. Every death. Every loss matters.

And it's not just the sharks. Endangered Green Turtle Terry was rescued from these same waters after fishing line became so tightly wrapped around his flipper that it had to be amputated.

Terrigal Haven deserves real protection. Right now, there is no marine sanctuary, no enforceable protections, and nothing standing between these animals and the next preventable tragedy.

This World Oceans Day, add your name and help protect one of the Central Coast's most important marine habitats.

Sign the petition to make Terrigal Haven a Marine Sanctuary: https://nsw.animaljusticeparty.org/terrigal-marine-sanctuary

Every Animal Justice Party member is a voice for animals!

Here’s what Tommy Hawthorne, one of our dedicated volunteers, had to say:

“For me, volunteering with the AJP means turning a passion for animal rights into real community action. It has given my voice a platform to advocate for our environment and the footprints we leave behind. I’ve absolutely loved engaging with the community for our upcoming coaster campaign.”

Would you like to join us?

No matter your skills, time, or background, anyone can become an AJP volunteer. Whether it’s a few hours on a stall, lending your creative talents, or providing admin support behind the scenes, every contribution makes a real difference for animals.

❤️ The animals thank you. Together, we can keep advocating, keep building community, and keep fighting for a kinder world.

It’s June! This month we’ll be taking part in a range of events across Sydney, giving you the opportunity to use your voice and stand up for animals.

There are plenty of ways to get involved and take action. This month we have an event with Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst. You will have the exciting opportunity to chat politics and all things AJP while enjoying a delicious Funky Pie.

We are also participating in the Biggest BBQ Lesson and have a special event for our YAJP members and supporters.

Join us to speak out against cruelty and be part of meaningful change for animals.

Together, we can make a real difference.

Want to volunteer for a shift at the Caringbah stall? Email us at [email protected]

Change happens when we act together.

These poisons don’t just kill rats and mice but they are killing our native wildlife too.

Second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) cause animals to bleed to death internally over days. Owls, kookaburras, quolls, goannas, possums and wedge-tailed eagles are among the victims of these cruel poisons through secondary poisoning.

Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst has been fighting for years to get these poisons off shelves and out of our environment.

Now, the federal government is consulting on restricting SGAR poisons, and public submissions are urgently needed before 5PM Thursday 11 June.

The proposal would restrict these poisons so they could only be sold to authorised users like licensed pest controllers, not the general public.

This is a crucial step toward a full ban.

Making a submission only takes a few minutes. There’s a short survey, an optional written submission, and we’ve created a simple step-by-step guide with example responses to help.

Every submission matters. The more people who speak up, the harder it becomes for the government to ignore the suffering these poisons are causing.

Brumbies are once again facing the horror of aerial shooting.

And once again, the Government are refusing to invest in the humane long-term solutions that already exist.

Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst has long opposed aerial culling in all its forms and with culling underway again for brumbies and other animals, she is speaking out.

Shooting animals from helicopters does not guarantee a quick death. Animals can be struck multiple times and left suffering for hours.

There is a better way.

“In Australia, we need to start using the modern technology that's used over in the US and other places overseas, which is a fertility dart, which will stop these animals from being able to breed. It’s a much better long-term solution.” — Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst

These cruel shooting programs are not solutions. They are repeated band-aid responses that ignore humane alternatives.

NORTHERN BEACHES IS NOW FUR-FREE 🐾🎉

Last night Northern Beaches Council voted to ban the sale of animal fur on council land. This makes the Northern Beaches the 7th NSW council to go fur-free.

From now on, fur products will not be permitted to be sold at council-owned or managed markets, events, and community spaces.

According to animal welfare advocates, approximately 95 per cent of fur sold globally originates from factory farms, where millions of animals are held in confinement and killed using methods designed to preserve fur quality over animal welfare.

This ban on council land may seem small but it is a huge step in the right direction to cease the undeniable animal abuse that happens in the fur industry.

This milestone was achieved through collaboration between our local Northern Beaches Animal Justice Party regional group, FOUR PAWS Australia and the local councillors and community members who spoke up for animals.

A huge thank you to Councillors Cr Ethan Hrnjak - Greens and Robert Giltinan for leading this motion, and thank you to Animal Justice Party representative Susan Sorensen for her tireless advocacy and all of the incredible work she put into this campaign.

As Susan said: “There is no such thing as ethical fur.”

The Northern Beaches now joins a growing movement rejecting cruelty for fashion and calling for stronger protections for animals.

Together, we’re building a kinder, fur-free future.

We’ve hit 10,000 signatures on our Bring Back the Ban petition, calling for an end to greyhound racing in NSW.

Now, we need every MP in NSW to hear about it.

This is a huge moment for our Bring Back the Ban campaign. Ten thousand people have now signed the petition calling on Premier Chris Minns and the NSW Government to shut down the NSW greyhound racing industry.

But this milestone only matters if decision-makers hear it loud and clear.

Please email your State MP today and tell them: 10,000 people have signed our petition to Bring Back the Ban. NSW voters do not want greyhound racing to continue.

✍️TAKE ACTION: We’ve made it easy. We’ve drafted a template email for you, so you can send a message to your MP in just a few clicks: https://nsw.animaljusticeparty.org/10000-signatures-email-your-mp
