💛 Wear it Yellow 💛

Students at Menai Public School wore yellow to help raise funds for a Children’s Ground, supporting a brighter future for First Nations children, as well as celebrate First Nations culture by learning and raising awareness to our students and families about our shared histories.

💚💛 Buddies 💛💚

Kindergarten Kookaburras loved spending time with their Stage 3 buddies this afternoon! Together they practised their tricky words, created sentences and shared their reading. It was wonderful to see students collaborating, building confidence and supporting each other’s learning.

🐦 1/2 Budgies 🐦

It's been a fun few weeks in 1/2 Budgies!! We tried to figure out who sunk the boat by practicing our mass and equivalence skill. The Budgies needed to discuss strategies in their groups to equally balance balls of playdough in their paper boats.

There has been lots of coin flipping happening too! Chance is very exciting to learn about and it was fascinating to learn that each group had different outcomes in their coin flips!

We have been very lucky to have Mrs Ullrich join us for art this week. The Budgies are very excited to share their new art creations with you all very shortly!!

🌟 Kindergarten Kookaburras 🌟

Kindergarten Kookaburras had a wonderful time learning Japanese with Sensei Harrison from Menai High School this week. Students explored Japanese numbers through engaging, interactive learning experiences, building their communication skills and intercultural understanding. I am so proud of their enthusiasm, participation and willingness to have a go at learning a new language!

🌟 Learning in 1/2 Flamingos! 🌟

Throughout the term, we have been busy learning across all curriculum areas. In English, students developed their persuasive writing skills by exploring high modality words, emotive language and rhetorical questions to strengthen their arguments. They worked hard to publish their own persuasive texts and share their opinions with confidence.

In Mathematics, we investigated length and height using informal units, compared our measurements and engaged in rich discussions about our findings. Students demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and mathematical thinking as they worked collaboratively with their peers.

We also explored the world around us through Science, Creative Arts and HSIE, asking questions, making discoveries and sharing our learning in meaningful ways.

🌟 Kinder Kookaburras 🌟

Kindergarten have been busy exploring coding and technology using the Indi Bots!

Class Kookaburras have had a wonderful time learning how to program the Indi Bots to move along different paths and complete challenges. Through hands-on play and problem solving, they developed their early coding skills, practised giving and following directions, and worked collaboratively with their class mates.

It was fantastic to see the students showing persistence, creativity and teamwork as they predicted, tested and adjusted their programs. I am so proud of the enthusiasm and curiosity they demonstrated while exploring this exciting technology.
