We assist women and their children to find long-term housing.

Bayside Women's Shelter provides safe, temporary supported crisis accommodation (up to 3 months) for women and children in times of homelessness or escaping domestic and family violence.

Domestic and family violence can take many forms, and not all of them leave visible injuries.

Financial control, isolation, intimidation, monitoring and coercive behaviour can all be used to create fear and maintain power over another person.

Understanding the different forms of abuse helps us recognise what domestic and family violence can look like and respond with greater understanding and support.

At Bayside Women’s Shelter, we support women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and provide a safe place to begin moving forward.

When someone tells you they are experiencing abuse:
Listen
Believe them
Avoid judgement
Ask how you can support them

You do not need to have every answer. Sometimes the most meaningful response is to listen, believe them and remind them that the abuse is not their fault.

Avoid pressuring them to make an immediate decision. Instead, ask what support would feel helpful and continue treating them with dignity and care.
