Our MP Emma Hurst is using every tool at her disposal to hold industries to account, shine a light on hidden cruelty and give animals a voice in Parliament. Here’s what she’s been doing recently:
-To stop the Shooters Party’s pro-hunting Bill and to get major parties to agree to oppose the Bill
-To get a copy of the Drake Inquiry report from the investigation into the greyhound racing industry (Done! Motion passed to get it released!)
-To get GWIC and the Minister to comply with our calls to papers into the greyhound racing industry involving animal cruelty and sexual harassment
-To question the Government about their shark nets decision and the lack of enforcement into animal cruelty laws (Done! Her question is on notice!)
-To discuss the plight of the dingo and their importance (Done! She spoke in parliament in her adjournment speech)
-To progress our Bill to protect animals from sexual abuse (Done!) She met with the Attorney-General)
-To amend the WWCC changes to include mandatory training as per the recommendations from the @auschildhood
-To amend animals in rental laws to ensure they work and more animals are not dumped
-To expose the horrors of slaughterhouses in NSW as per the explosive investigation by @farmtransparencyproject (Done! She tabled major findings of the report)
-To get an investigation within Parliament on comments made by Shooters Party MPs towards other female MPs (threats have been referred to a high-level committee for investigation)
The more representatives we have in Parliament, the more power we have to protect animals, block cruel laws and make change.
We’ll never stop fighting, even when the odds are against us.
Thank you for everything you do for animals, peope and the planet, Emma! ❤️
