Another enjoyable evening at Hawkesbury Valley Toastmasters! 🎀

Meeting No. 982 brought members and guests together for a creative program filled with connection, laughter and learning.
βš–οΈ Piper led a courtroom-themed Table Topics session, where speakers defended everything from eating too many Tim Tams to replacing the moon!
πŸ’¬ Our panel-speaking session explored how sharing personal stories and presenting ideas effectively can build connection, credibility and audience engagement.
πŸ₯‚ Chris Veitch DTM delivered a thoughtful toast celebrating our connections with people and also recognised the club’s recent Public Relations achievements by Ramalka Kasige DTM.

Our very own Immediate Past President Ramalka H. Kasige presented a keynote to a 100+ audience at SpeakEasy Speaking Event in Sydney! 😎

Ramalka delivered her first-ever SpeakEasy speech, β€œThe Train Is Not Too Late,” using the metaphor of a delayed train to reflect on life not always unfolding according to plan. She shared her journey from graduating with first-class honours and three gold medals in zoology to facing repeated disappointment while pursuing a PhD during the COVID-19 pandemic. After receiving only one unfunded offer from the United States, she reassessed her approach and applied to ten Australian universities, ultimately receiving full scholarship offers from all ten.

Through her personal story, Ramalka reminded the audience that delays do not necessarily mean failure or that an opportunity has been missed. Sometimes, we may simply be standing on the wrong platform, and the journey taking longer than expected may still lead us toward the destination that is right for us.
