Back in the 1960's a wonderful example of the Areas and Country Districts emblems of NSW was created (see attached pictures of the booklet) that covered all areas and districts of NSW at that time.
On card No 4, you will see the 1960's version of the Hume Area badge on display.
One of these recently came up for auction on eBay

Over the weekend Scout Heritage NSW put on a display at the 2025 Gilwell Reunion held at Pennant Hills Baden-Powell Activity Centre as part of the NSW state activity.

A bespoke display was chosen by Joe Attard (State Commissioner for Heritage) including a number of exclusive items

A buffalo skin (one of 4 in the world) that was gifted to Australia in 1924 from the Jamboree in Denmark was on display. The skin was then inscribed with all the wood badge courses held at Pennant Hills since that time and included signatures of 1st Lord Baden-Powell, Lady Baden-Powell (Olave), Peter Baden-Powell (2nd Lord BP), Heather and Betty Baden-Powell in 1931.

A bespoke copy of Dinizulu's necklace (of which the Wood Badge is connected) made by a Hume Region leader plus a number of BP related items, Wood Badge and Gilwell heritage items.

Over 100 people visited the display and provided positive feedback. Please enjoy the pictures from the display.

Our State Commissioner for Heritage, Joe Attard was mentioned in the Chief Commissioners August 2025 message to the movement recognising his long dedicated service to our movement. It was awesome to see that Joe had inspired our own Chief Commissioner with his scouting journey. Well done again Joe and enjoy all the praise and recognition you have received from Scouts Australia and the wider Scouting Movement :)

In 1988 Hume Area HQ (in Campbelltown, South West Sydney) was opened by the 4th Lord Baden Powell (at the time he was The Hon. Michael Baden Powell) and it was a memorable event and a huge honour for the Area office to be opened by such a distinguished Scouting person. This was the official badge given out at the event. Hume Region (as it is now called) is the only region in NSW that has continuously used the same name 'Hume' for 79 years with the other regions adjusting there names over the years. In 2026 Hume Region is celebrating 80 years of existence (since 1946) and there will be some event planned to celebrate.
