6 Turquoise💎 have been learning about natural disasters. They studied techniques used by engineers to design buildings that can remain standing during an earthquake. Students designed and constructed their own model buildings before testing them in an earthquake simulation. The challenge was to create a structure strong enough to remain standing for 45 seconds of simulated shaking.

🎭Years 4-6 were treated to a dynamic presentation of THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF WILL, an exciting and interesting play by the BELL SHAKESPEARE company. Our students laughed, learned and were inspired by this wonderful opportunity to engage with the arts! 🎭

B O C C I A F U N !
Vardys Road competed for the first time at the annual Boccia knockout tournament. Selected students from our Support Unit classes played 8 games against other schools showcasing their amazing teamwork and Boccia skills. They had a fun and memorable day displaying resilience, perseverance, playing fairly and comradery. We won a few games, placed 9th in the competition and Miss Kavanagh and Mrs Nathaniel couldn’t be prouder! Well done!

🪻Iris have been learning about money💰
We practised counting and matching money using hands-on materials before taking part in our pretend ice cream shop where we worked on handling money, understanding costs and waiting for change. 🍦
To finish off the week, we visited the Backgate shops where we enjoyed ordering our own ice creams and milkshakes while using our money skills in a real-life setting! 😊

🥇O L Y M P I C I N S P I R A T I O N🥇
This week, our Year 4, 5, and 6 students were inspired by a very special visitor, aspiring Olympic athlete Desleigh Owusu. Desleigh shared her journey with our students, reminding them that persistence and resilience aren’t just sporting qualities, but life skills that help us grow through every challenge. Her energy, honesty, and determination showed our students exactly what it looks like to live our school motto: I Aspire!
