The Gardens have become a popular venue for events, filming and photography. Note: bookings in advance are essential and fees apply - this is regardless of whether a fee for service is given or received. The original concept and design of the Auburn Botanic Gardens is credited to Council’s Engineer and Town Planner Mr Eric Black. The Gardens were officially opened on the 11 September 1977 by His E

xcellency the Governor of NSW, Sir Roden Cutler, and the Avenue of Remembrance was opened by the Hon Michael Cleary on 12 September 1987. The Avenue of Remembrance

Two plaques, located at the northern end of the Avenue, commemorate:
The part played by the Australian Government in the development of the Gardens and in particular the role played by the Hon Tom Uren
Victory in the Pacific in 1945 and the servicemen, women and civilians who gave service to our homeland in Australia’s hour of need
The Aviary

The Auburn Aviary was added and officially opened on 5 December 1988 by the Hon Gary West. The Aviary was supported as a Bicentennial Project by the Commonwealth Government. Other features

The Fauna Reserve opened in 1994 and the equal access playground, a project supported by the Commonwealth Government, was officially opened by the Member for Reid, Laurie Ferguson MP on 28 May 2001.

Important ticketing information! 🎫

Please remember that all Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival tickets MUST be pre booked online for entry into the festival.

There will be no tickets available at the door and entry will not be permitted to the festival without a valid ticket.

Cumberland residents need to pre book to secure your spot and entry is free.

Patrons wishing to resell their tickets can do so at https://tixel.com/au/Sydney. Only tickets purchased through Oztix or Tixel will be honoured.
