As we welcome the New Year, we look back on a year that has brought our community moments of both immense challenge and profound inspiration.
The Bondi terror attack was a moment that shook our community and tested us in ways we never imagined. Our volunteers responded immediately, putting themselves in harm’s way. Tragically, one of our own responders, Yanky was shot and seriously injured while on duty during the attack.
Yet alongside the pain, we witnessed an incredible miracle — Yanky’s survival and recovery. It is a powerful reminder of the preciousness of life, the strength of our community, and the hand of Hashem that guides us through even the darkest moments.
It is an honour to serve this community. Every call, every response and every person we are able to help is a privilege that we never take for granted.
As we enter the New Year, we wish the entire Sydney Jewish community a Shana Tova U’Metuka — a year filled with health, happiness, peace and sweetness, and a year in which we share only good news and joyous occasions.
May we continue to be there for one another, and may we never again know such tragedy.
