Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden

Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden One of Sydney's best kept secrets, Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden is set across 123 hectares

If you’re no stranger to the Wildflower Garden, you’ve definitely heard our old diesel buggy driving past.

After years of faithful service, it’s time to say goodbye and welcome a new member of the family - our new electric buggy. ⚡

Not only is it much quieter, but it also produces zero tailpipe emissions, helping us reduce our environmental impact while caring for the Garden.

The birds, frogs and other wildlife will probably appreciate the extra peace and quiet too. 💚

It’s lyrebird breeding season 🪶

Between April and October, male Superb Lyrebirds establish territories and perform elaborate songs and dances from display mounds to attract mates.
These remarkable birds can often be spotted scratching through leaf litter in search of insects, spiders and worms, playing an important role in turning over the forest floor.
Famous for their incredible mimicry, lyrebirds can imitate everything from other birds and dogs barking to camera shutters and even car alarms.
Keep an ear out next time you’re walking through the bush!

It’s World Turtle Day! 🐢🌿

Eastern Long-necked Turtles can often be seen around ponds and wetlands, where they help keep aquatic ecosystems healthy and clean. They feed on insects, small aquatic animals and carrion, helping to keep waterways balanced and clean.

Unlike many turtles, Eastern Long-necks stretch their necks out to the side rather than pulling them straight back into their shell. They’re also strong swimmers and can travel across land after rain in search of new waterways.

Keep an eye out for wild turtles around the ponds and drop into the Visitor Centre to meet either Tiny, Todd or Tetley 💚
