2/6S โ From Egg to Chick! ๐ฅ๐ฃ
There has been lots of excitement in 2/6S this term as we have been learning all about life cycles! As part of our English learning, students have been exploring how living things grow and change over time, with a special focus on the life cycle of birds.
To bring our learning to life, 2/6S have been lucky enough to experience the incubation and hatching of Japanese quail eggs right in our classroom! Students helped prepare the incubator and have been closely observing the eggs throughout the incubation process. We have learnt about the importance of keeping the eggs at the correct temperature and humidity and have eagerly watched and waited for signs of our chicks beginning to hatch.
The excitement reached a whole new level when the first tiny cracks appeared in the eggs and our baby quails began to hatch! Students have loved observing the chicks, watching how they grow and change, and learning about what they need to stay safe and healthy. We have also prepared a brooder where our new arrivals can stay warm, eat, drink and continue to grow.
This hands-on experience has given our students a wonderful opportunity to connect their classroom learning to the real world. As our quails continue to grow, we will follow their journey through the different stages of their life cycle, eventually completing the cycle when they are old enough to lay eggs of their own.
