This National Reconciliation Week, the National Measurement Institute Australia is honoured to stand All In for reconciliation and to support work shaped through partnership with First Nations communities.

We are working with the Northern Australia Aboriginal Kakadu Plum Alliance to support Kakadu Plum propagation and conservation. Together, we are using DNA sequencing to understand Kakadu Plum diversity in the Northern Territory and Western Australia and develop a propagation method for native trees. Our work enables commercialisation of bushfoods and medicines, supports community-led opportunities, and protects Indigenous intellectual property and cultural knowledge.

The National Measurement Institute works in partnership with Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Industry, Science and Resources, and IP Australia - Official to support First Nations bushfoods producers. We will continue our respectful collaborations with First Nations communities and stakeholders to unlock new opportunities in the field of natural products.
