Your NSW SES City of Sydney volunteers have had a busy couple of months! ๐Ÿงก

From footy fields to open water, our volunteers have been out there making a difference. Hereโ€™s a look back at what weโ€™ve been up to ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿ‰ NRL Emergency Services Match
Our volunteers joined forces with other emergency services to connect with the public and show off the amazing work we do. Nothing beats seeing the community get around us!

๐Ÿšฆ Be Street Smart
Our team took part in this vital road safety program for young adults. Road safety saves lives, and weโ€™re proud to help spread that message to the next generation of drivers.

๐Ÿ… Congratulations to our award recipients!
๐Ÿ‘ Julie and Joshua - 5 Years of Service
๐Ÿ‘ Unit Commander Rob - an incredible 30 Years of Service!
Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our unit and community.

๐Ÿšค A brand new vessel for the unit!
Weโ€™re thrilled to welcome a new vessel to our fleet, boosting our on-water capability and helping us respond when it counts.

๐ŸŽ“ Congratulations to our 5 newly qualified PIARO operators!
A huge milestone in their training journey - these volunteers have put in the hard yards to reach this next level of qualification. Weโ€™re so proud of your dedication and canโ€™t wait to see you put these new skills to work!

โ›ˆ๏ธ Storm season briefing with NSW SES Commissioner Mike Wassing
We were honoured to host Commissioner Wassing for a unit visit, where he shared insights on what we can expect this storm season. Getting prepared and staying ready - thatโ€™s what we do best!

Huge thanks to every single one of our volunteers for giving up their time to keep our community safe. We couldnโ€™t do it without you! ๐Ÿ’™

Corner of Cathedral St and Bourke St, Woolloomooloo

NSW SES City of Sydney volunteers are currently responding to a burst water mainโ›ฒ๏ธthat has caused significant flooding and damage to the bike lane ๐Ÿšฒ

The force of the water has undermined the road surface, resulting in a partial collapse of the bike lane ๐Ÿšฒ and lifting sections of the concrete slab. The flooding initially threatened a row of five terraced houses ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ before flood barriers were rapidly deployed to protect the properties.

Our volunteers remain on scene monitoring conditions and maintaining property protection measures until Sydney Water crews arrive.

The flood barriers used in this operation are a recent addition to our operational arsenal, providing NSW SES with a versatile capability to divert and control large volumes of water. These barriers can be deployed across a variety of emergency situations and are already proving their value in helping protect homes and infrastructure.
