Aboriginal Languages Week (18-25 October) is an annual, state-wide celebration of the strength, resilience and critical importance of Aboriginal Languages, which marks the passing of the Aboriginal Languages Act 2017 9 years ago.

‘Living Languages, Strong Futures’ celebrates and encourages the ongoing work of Language practitioners and Communities and their efforts to revitalise, strengthen and reawaken Aboriginal Languages across NSW.

From 18-25 October, the Week celebrates and encourages the continuous work of Language practitioners and Communities and their ongoing efforts to revitalise, strengthen and share Aboriginal Languages across NSW as well as marking the passing of the Aboriginal Languages Act 2017.

Throughout the weekend, our team had the privilege of engaging with thousands of community members that shared their mob and the language words they know. Watching our community board fill with language, stories and connection was a powerful reminder that language, like footy, brings people together.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a yarn and helped celebrate the strength, diversity and living legacy of Aboriginal languages across NSW.
