Language practitioners and Community representatives came together last week to strengthen connections, share knowledge, and shape the future of Language revitalisation across NSW.

At the heart of the conversation was a shared vision for strong, community-led Languages, grounded in Culture, connection and Country.

As one participant reflected, ‘an ultimate view of success is hearing young people speak Language in everyday life.’

We’re honoured to share voices from Jacob Morris (Gammea–Dharrawal), Aunty Wanda Smith (Ngurrabul), and Aunty Charlene Emzin-Boyd (Bundjalung), reminding us that Language is central to Culture, identity, and truth-telling.

This National Reconciliation Week, under the theme All In, we’re reminded that meaningful reconciliation requires all of us; listening, learning, and taking action to respect and uplift Aboriginal Languages.

As Jacob Morris shares, 'Aboriginal Languages’ role in reconciliation is vital…and until that gets spoken, respected and has its rightful place we won’t have reconciliation.'
