Monday night training Road Crash Rescue .
What better to use a car donated from one of our own . Thanks Tameka for your old car that had served you so well.
We could say we all took good care of it but , well that's a lie.
Our volunteers are always learning and honing their skills ready to assist our awesome community when needed .

Training is never boring , there is always a twist ( even if its in a length of rope )
So last night as part of our ongoing skills maintenance our volunteers stayed inside and went thru our rope kits . Honing our knot ➰️ ( tieing things up ) skills, trying on some fashion 👨‍👧‍👧 accessories ( harnesses) and understanding how a Z Pulley ( thingy that helps us lift and lower)💪

⛑️ Training for the Unexpected ⛑️

Last night our team revisited the scene of a recent motor vehicle crash at Rocky Hills, where a vehicle came to rest approximately 10 metres down an embankment. 🚗⬇️

Fortunately, during the actual incident the occupants were uninjured and were able to safely self-extricate and make their way back to the road. 👍

For training, we challenged ourselves with the opposite scenario—what if the occupants had been seriously injured and were unable to climb back to the top? 🤔

Our crew put a range of skills into action, using our rope rescue equipment to safely descend the embankment while carrying a stretcher to the patient. 🪢🛏️ Once the patient was packaged, the team established a haulage system to carefully bring the stretcher back to the roadside, where the patient could be handed over for further care. 🚑

This exercise brought together multiple skill sets, including:🪢 Rope rescue🛏️ Stretcher operations⚙️ Haulage systems💡 Scene lighting📻 Radio communications🤝 And, most importantly… teamwork!

Training like this ensures we're prepared for whatever challenges our community may face. 💪🧡

Monday nights training Steep Slopes.
How to safely get a patient up a steep slope using or rope kits and stretcher.
This was a great opportunity for our team to put their skills to test , using our new harnesses , creating our working lines and z pulley haulage system.
Thanks to an awesome dedicated team working in cold conditions we achieved our goal and made sure Wayne made it up the hill safely.
Thanks to our Southern Region Trainer Adam for assisting with the scenario.

On Sunday volunteers from the Southern Region Tasmanian SES gathered at our Mornington facility to celebrate 50 years of the Tasmania SES .
The gathering was a great opportunity to catch up with some old faces and swap stories. It was also a chance to reflect on where the service has come from and where it is heading into the future. With 50 years now reached it is a great opportunity to look back at where our local TAS SES - Glamorgan Springbay Unit has come from , to reflect on the volunteers of the past, the present and those yet to don the orange overalls and become SES VOLUNTEERS of the future. To say a lot has changed over the years is an understatement technology , safety , clothing , procedures are just a few areas . One thing that never changes is the passion, commitment, dedication and sense of community that every volunteer brings to the service .
Sundays event acknowledged this commitment with volunteers across the southern region recognised for their dedication and service .
