✨ Our School-Industry Engagement Manager Rod recently assisted in the facilitation of some Industry Tours of local Swan Hill businesses for the Swan Hill College FLO Campus junior students! This initiative is part of MMLLEN's ASPIRE Project that the students are participating in with our Specialised Project Workers Fi and Jan. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

Students had the opportunity to gain greater understanding of how each business is organised/structured, what products/services they provide, an overview of career/job opportunities and to understand those employability skills required of young people when entering the workforce.

Students visited our local industry supporter including;
πŸ”Ή Bunnings Swan Hill
πŸ”Ή Coles Swan Hill
πŸ”Ή Murray Downs Golf and Country Club

We would like to thank all the industry supporters for supporting and encouraging the students taking initiative and inquiring about career pathways and work placement opportunities!

πŸš€ The ASPIRE Project aims to identify students' strengths and interests by providing each young person with information and inspiration into the world of careers and what they need to do to make these careers a reality!

πŸ“šοΈ Last year, Murray Mallee LLEN brought schools and industry together with a 'School Industry Roundtable' to talk about the future of jobs in health, agriculture, and renewable energy, especially how technology is changing these fields. As technology evolves, so do careers/ New tools and ways of working mean new skills are needed and that could shape the jobs you might have in the future.

🍎 Following on from this, we recently organised a Year 9 Guest Speaker Panel Presentation at the Swan Hill College with local industry supporters including Chloe from Swan Hill District Health, Lee from Australian Farming Services and Brian from VHM Limited.

✨️ The industry presenters gave a fantastic overview of these key industries to the Year 9 cohort with some engaging presentations to give the students a real look into the range of opportunities available to them!

πŸ™ŒπŸΌ Industry engagement such as this is inspiring for students as they were about to complete their Morrisby Career Profile and are currently gearing up for subject selections.

We would like to the Swan Hill College for having us and a huge thank you the champion industry representatives who are keen to showcase these local industries to young people in our region! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

✨️ Our L2P Coordinator Leigh was fortunate to recently be invited along to the Lake Boga Community Garden's Monthly Cuppa n Cake’!

πŸš— It was a fantastic opportunity for Leigh to give an overview of the L2P Program and how people can get involved. One of our valued mentors, Leanne, is also involved in the Community Garden and was able to chat to some of the members about her experiences and how rewarding the program can be!

πŸ’™ We would like to once again thank the Lake Boga Community Garden for inviting Leigh along for morning tea! πŸ˜„

✨ As part of MMLLEN's ASPIRE Project, our Specialised Project Workers Fi and Jan recently visited the Swan Hill College FLO Campus Junior Students to showcase our VIC VICE Virtual Reality industry careers experience and participate in some extra activities with the students! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

The students had the opportunity to view our Agriculture, Health and Transport and Logistics Industry Experiences including;
🌾 Cropping: Students are taken inside a protective cropping grow house and find out how to take care of the crop, when to pick at the perfect time and ensure the produce is packed correctly for the buyer.
🦷 Dental Assistant: Students see what's behind the smile and navigate the nooks and crannies of dental care.
🧸 Early Childhood Education: Students have the opportunity to hear what excites the educators of our earliest learners, it’s where it all begins.
πŸ› οΈ Diesel Mechanic: Students have the opportunity to hear from both female and male apprentices about what a typical day working on trucks looks like.
πŸ› οΈ Carpenter: This industry experience will trade up students careers onsite in the building industry with the opportunity to meet a female apprentice.
