Westside Melbourne Salvos - Sunbury The Sunbury Salvation Army in Victoria, Australia The Salvation Army Sunbury Corps has been sharing the love of Christ with Sunbury since 1977.

We believe all people have value and should be treated with respect and dignity, irrespective of origin, belief, status or gender. We recognise people have many needs - physical, emotional and spiritual, and we try our best to provide for these needs in a safe, loving and supportive way.

It is with much joy that I can announce today that our Westside Melbourne Salvos Officer team is growing!

In 2027 we look forward to welcoming Major Sugunama Meredith as a team member of our WMS hub. This is very exciting as Sugu has cultural connections into the Burmese community and a strong passion for intercultural ministry and alleviating modern day slavery.

We also welcome Major Kevin Meredith into our Westside Melbourne Salvos family. He will be taking up a chaplaincy role at James Barker House in Footscray, working alongside Capt Dale Allan.

And we also welcome Naomi (18) and Andrew (13), Sugu and Kevin's two children. We pray that they will find their place with us at WMS as a new home and community of faith.

Majors Sugu and Kevin have been faithful and committed servant leaders to their rural community in Broken Hill, NSW over the past six years. We pray for them as they prepare to make the move back to Melbourne and for their corps community at Broken Hill who will miss them terribly.

Keep Major Sugu in your prayers as she prepares to join our Westside Melbourne Salvos Officer team. Pray peace, assurance, strength and joy for her as she contemplates her next season of ministry with us at Westside Melbourne Salvos! We very much look forward to 2027 as an expanded, even better team! ❤️🙏

Today, members from our Sunshine, Sunbury, and Brimbank congregations are heading to Geelong for a day of fellowship, laughter, and lunch together.

This video captures our crew at Sunshine meeting point, full of excitement before we set off. It's a beautiful reminder that church is not just something we attend, but a family we journey with.

What a great night we enjoyed at Westside Melbourne Salvos Sunbury's Girls Night Out (plus four blokes!) with Carolyn and Erin from Salvation Army Emergency Services.

It was a truly informative evening learning about the amazing work that the SAES team do assisting countless numbers of Victorians in crisis due to fires, floods and other disasters.

Thank you to Carolyn and Erin for sharing with us incredibly humbling and inspiring stories and showing us the dedication of your team. You guys really are faith translated into compassionate acts of kindness and mercy! We thank God for you and respect you and your team immensely! ❤️

How as humans we are called to support and sit with others in their suffering.

(Not so) Fun Facts and stats for your Thursday night ….

The Salvos surveyed 4,400 people who have accessed their services over the last couple of months. This is just a fraction of what they learned:

* 91% of respondents have skipped meals in the past 12 months
* 35% of parents said their children had gone to school hungry
* 84% go to bed early to keep warm
* 51% are unable to afford to see a doctor, dentist or optometrist
* 90% have experienced being unable to afford public transport or fuel for their car.
If you can, please help make someone’s life a little easier.
