Last night we held our Quarterly Brigade Meeting.

Amongst various other things, we had the presentation of the highly respected Golden Spigot Award.

This quarter goes to Peter Simpson (Simo)

He had a significant birthday recently, but still turns up to training, to all sorts of incidents, and is still passionate about serving the community.

The man is a legend - well deserved.

Good morning everyone,
Last night multiple brigades were responded to a fire at the Adelaide Hills Recycling Station (just off Callington Road, near the Terramin mine site)

Crews found a very large amount of rubbish on fire in a pit.

Crews were unable to fully extinguish the fire as it was burning deep underground.

There is no chance of the fire escaping, and the site will monitor the situation.

Thanks to Woodchester, Langhorne Creek and Strathalbyn brigades for their efforts.

Residents are advised to avoid the smoke.

There should be an official CFS warning coming out this morning.

Can you feel it?
Autumn is in the air. 🥶

If you haven’t already done so, please clean your chimney before lighting your wood heater this winter.

A build up of soot/creosote can lead to a chimney fire which can cause all sorts of structural damage. 😳

Also, a variety of critters may have taken the opportunity to set up a cosy retreat in your chimney, resulting in a partial or complete blockage and a smoke filled house. 🤬

Lastly:
🔺Fire Danger Season ends at midnight on the 30th of April.

We were stoked to receive a surprise from the CFS Foundation tonight.

Various businesses have generously donated goods to the foundation to make up a stack of hampers.

These hampers will be delivered to a large number of brigades that assisted at the Deep Creek Fire in February.

Pictured here is LT1 Jarryd gratefully accepting the hamper from Sammie who was delivering 9 hampers tonight!

A massive thanks to the businesses who donated. CFS Foundation

Sorry for the lack of posts.
It’s a good thing and generally means that no one is having a bad day.

Unfortunately our pagers went off just after 0430 this morning for a shed and Winnebago/camper van fire.

Two trucks from Woodchester, one from Langhorne Creek, and two from Strath were responded.

Crews donned BA, and extinguished the fire.

No one was home and unfortunately both the shed and camper van were completely destroyed.
