🔥 It’s been a busy week for our volunteers!

Stratford Brigade, alongside crews from Perry Bridge, Maffra, Sale and Traralgon (BA Support), supported Clydebank at a reported hay shed fire earlier this week.

Our volunteers have also supported multiple incidents across the area this week, including a structure fire in Sale on Sunday, Father’s Day.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers for giving their time, day and night, to support our community. đźš’

With the warmer months just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start thinking about your own fire preparedness.

Are you fire ready this summer? 🔥

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there and also the Mum’s who also double up as Dad’s too.

So throughout today we will post some of our volunteer Dad’s from Stratford CFA.

It doesn’t get much cooler than turning up to kinder or school with a firetruck honestly and seeing your son or daughter get bragging rights that’s Dad’s here in the truck.

🌧️ Rain, hail, day, night, sunshine, heat or cold, we train! 🚒🔥

Having the VEMTC Training Centre so close to our station is an incredible resource for our brigade and our volunteers.

Recently, our members attended the VEMTC complex for a practical training session covering Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA), power pole hazards and electrical line safety.

Another fantastic training night, building our skills, knowledge and confidence to ensure we’re ready to respond when our community needs us most.

A huge thank you to the VEMTC team, PAD Supervisors and our dedicated volunteers for giving up their time and continuing to support our training and development.

Great facilities, great people and another successful training session! 👏🚒

Last night our firefighters started the mandatory entrapment drill that all firefighters must complete before summer. This is an essential skill to ensure our safety if we are overrun by fire.

We’ve started our preparations, so we are asking the community to start yours.

Training, Teamwork & Trust

Training makes us all better, and we’re extremely fortunate to have the VEMTC training centre so close to home. It gives us the opportunity to train practically in a controlled, safe environment that closely simulates real-life scenarios.

This week, the Stratford Brigade headed out to VEMTC for an evening of training, teamwork and a bit of team building.

The exercise was designed to remove our members’ sight 👀 and challenge them to rely on verbal communication and hand signals. Teams had to navigate a multi-level complex in complete darkness, locate dummies and find their team’s coloured glow sticks.

Once the search was completed, each team had to draw a detailed map of the area they had searched and hand it over to their supporting team, who then had to use that information to continue the search.

Our BA operators also took the opportunity to complete their routine Breathing Apparatus skills maintenance.

It was an awesome opportunity to build communication, trust and teamwork. When you can’t see, your buddy is the person you rely on most — and that trust is critical when operating in challenging environments.

A huge thanks to the team at VEMTC for providing such a fantastic training facility and opportunity for our brigade. 🚒🔥

Some of the science behind fire mapping and predicting. We are only getting better at it but the best plan is your own preparation.
