Deputy Mayor Karlo Perkov - City of Stirling Authorised by Cr Karlo Perkov (Deputy Mayor). Representing: Carine, Hamersley, Gwelup, Balcatta*, Stirling*, Karrinyup*.
25 Cedric Street Stirling WA 6021.

"All rights reserved". Councillor Karlo Perkov has been a serving Councillor for the Hamersley Ward in the City of Stirling since 2017. His parents settled in Osborne Park in 1958 and he was also born in the City of Stirling. As a proud local resident and parent, Karlo enjoys nothing more than spending time with his family and friends in and around our diverse City. In an age of social media where

impersonal communication has become the norm, Councillor Perkov is extremely approachable and prefers to engage in the old-fashioned way, face-to-face, with a big smile and always eager to help. As member of the Stirling Environment Advisory Group, Councillor Perkov recognises the importance of protecting our natural environment and open spaces. From Lake Gwelup, Trigg Bushland, Careniup Wetlands and Carine Open Space, Karlo understands how these special areas are so important for the wellbeing of our community. Karlo has a distinguished management career but becoming a Councillor has given him a far deeper sense of appreciation of community and he is humbled and honoured to be serving our City’s residents.

Meet my good friend Frank Cvitan JP. First elected to the City of Wanneroo Council in 1999, he served a total of 22 years (in two stints), including holding the position of Deputy Mayor from 2019 to 2021. Frank served as a WALGA State Councillor and a delegate to the Mindarie Regional Council (MRC), Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP), and WALGA North Metropolitan Zone. In 2024 he received the prestigious WALGA Life Membership award in recognition of his exceptional long-standing contributions to the sector and the broader Wanneroo community. And just for a bit of trivia, our fathers were both born in the same Croatian village on the Adriatic Coast and then worked side-by-side in the Parks department for the Shire of Wanneroo in the 80’s. Frank also appeared in some TV commercials back in the day and as most of you know, he's never short of a joke or three 😁.

🏀 It's not everyday you meet an NBA and Australian Boomers star basketballer, but Duop Reath is different. Duop was born in South Sudan and came to Australia as a child. He was a student at Girrawheen Senior High School and trained locally. Although he initially fancied playing soccer, his sudden growth and size took him in a different direction. When he gets the chance Duop conducts basketball clinics for aspiring young players. This weekend at the Mirrabooka Herb Graham Centre, he supported the Rhinos Basketball Academy where it all began. He's truly an inspiring and humble individual, with so much to give back to the sport of basketball in Australia. Very proud to have him back here at City of Stirling.

🦜The Rainbow Lorikeets (and friends) feasting on our grapes. My daily backyard visitors at the moment🍇.

Rainbow Lorikeets are a type of lorikeet (a group of small to medium-sized parrots) native to Australia and parts of Indonesia and New Guinea. They are very common in urban and suburban areas, especially in eastern and southern Australia, where they frequently visit gardens for nectar and fruit. They’re known for their loud, high-pitched calls and playful, social behavior.

😲HOLY CARP! How big you say?!?

A monster carp weighing 11.9kg and measuring 823mm in length has been caught by researchers in a lake in Perth’s northern suburbs, in what’s believed to be the largest capture ever recorded in Perth’s waterways.

The “whopper” female carp was caught in wetlands at Careniup Reserve in Gwelup last month by Murdoch University research assistant Cindy Palermo, from the Centre for Sustainable Aquatic Ecosystems.

Contributing to its incredible weight, the invasive pest was carrying up to three million eggs ready to spawn.

🇰🇪So much sound, colour, rhythm and energy. Very happy to be a guest and celebrate the 2026 Ramogi evening with the Luo community from Kenya. But I had to learn the moves real quick 🙌🏾.
The Ramogi Australia community is a socio-cultural and welfare group formed in April 2022, uniting individuals of the Kenyan Luo community living in Western Australia. The organization takes its name from Got Ramogi, the ancestral cradle and historical settlement hill of the Luo people located in Siaya, Kenya🇰🇪.
