Stanthorpe SES Group has had a busy few weeks.
We had the promotion of Kandi and Annie to the community member rank. A lot of hard work and dedication from you both. Congratulations!

We were thrilled to welcome Russell and Samantha Wantling from the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival Committee, who visited us to present our award for the float we entered in this year's parade.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring the float together.

Our support group was incredibly proud to sponsor Stanthorpe SES Support Group Young Ambassador Ashley Wren through his young ambassador journey. Ash’s commitment to the organisation, his community-first spirit, and passion for the orange were on full display throughout the process.

The celebrations reached a high note today at the 2026 Apple and Grape Harvest Festival Grand Parade. It was great to see so many organisations represented in the parade. A massive thank you to our dedicated volunteers who put in the hard yards to build our float—it’s safe to say the hard work paid off, and we think it looked spectacular!!

Some of our members were up early today to start on our float for next week's Apple and Grape Festival parade, supporting our Stanthorpe SES Support Group Young Ambassador Ashley Wren. It's coming together nicely....you'll just have to wait for the parade to see the finished product!!

Special mention and huge thanks to Granite Belt Fruit Freighters for the use of their trailer!

Issued by the Bureau of Meteorology at 12:32 pm Thursday, 12 February 2026.

HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL OVER SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND FROM LATE THURSDAY EVENING.

Weather Situation: A southerly wind change will move into the South East Coast overnight Thursday into Friday morning, before stalling over the Wide Bay and Burnett during Friday afternoon/evening. Meanwhile, an approaching mid-level trough combines with high atmospheric moisture and humid onshore flow to produce persistent rainfall over parts of the South East Coast, southern Wide Bay and Burnett and eastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt from Thursday evening.

HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is forecast to develop about the South East Coast from late Thursday evening, extending inland to southern Wide Bay and Burnett and eastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt during Friday morning. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 50 to 90 mm are likely, with isolated higher falls to around 150 mm possible.

* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
