Celebrating Wear It Purple Day πŸŒˆπŸ’œ

Today we joined communities across Australia in celebrating Wear It Purple Day and showing our support for LGBTIQA+ young people.

Wear It Purple Day is a reminder of the importance of creating communities where everyone feels safe, valued and free to be themselves.

At Emerald Hill Library, young people came together for an afternoon of creativity, connection and conversation centred on pride, inclusion and belonging.

Meanwhile, the team at St Kilda Library got into the spirit by wearing purple and sharing some of their favourite reads that celebrate diverse voices and experiences.

You'll also see St Kilda Town Hall illuminated in purple tonight as we proudly stand with LGBTQIA+ young people and communities across our City.

Today, dozens of young people from across Port Phillip came together to collaborate, network, discuss issues that matter to them and develop recommendations for Council.

These future leaders shared valuable insights and feedback on a range of issues affecting young people, helping Council better understand the opportunities and challenges facing our community's younger population.

A special thank you to our Youth Advisory Committee for helping facilitate and organise the Summit.
