Middle Park Beach renourishment 🌊

We’re renourishing the beach between Mills Street and Langridge Street to address ongoing erosion.

While works are underway, sections of the beach will be closed at different times, with temporary fencing in place for your safety.

These works will widen the beach, improve access and help protect nearby areas from storm damage.

Works will start in mid-September and are expected to be completed in November.

We recognise that AI, cloud computing and data centres are essential enabling infrastructure for Australia’s future economy.

We’re calling for stronger oversight of data centre development to ensure communities, infrastructure and the environment are properly considered.

Our submission highlights the need for nationally consistent standards that protect community interests while supporting investment and technological advancement.

H5 Bird Flu has now been detected in Albert Park/Middle Park within the City of Port Phillip, (Species: Gulls, Terns or Noddies).

This follows several detections across Victoria since it first arrived in Australia in July 2026.

Our City is home to many seabirds and other bird species, including our beloved penguin colony, so it's important that we remain cautious, vigilant and informed.

The risk to human health remains low. There is currently no evidence of mass bird deaths, and no detections in poultry or livestock in our municipality. Council and DEECA continue to monitor the St Kilda penguin colony closely, with no signs of infection detected there to date.

Our beaches, parks and foreshore remain open. Council is not planning closures.
