🐢⭐ DID YOU KNOW?
INDIAN STAR TORTOISES! ⭐🐢

Our Indian Star Tortoises are not only beautiful, they’re also very interactive and full of personality! 😍

Indian Star Tortoises are native to parts of India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. They’re named for the beautiful star-like patterns on their shells, which make each tortoise look a little bit different. ⭐🐢

Here at Serpentarium, our tortoises definitely know how to get our attention! 😂

Every time they see people, they get so excited. They’ll scratch at the door like:

“Excuse me! We want OUT!” 🤣🤣

Their favourite things to do are:
🥬 Get fed
🐢 Get a little scratch on their backs
🌿 Wander around Serpentarium
👀 Explore and see what everyone is doing

And when they’ve had enough? 😂
They’ll find a nice corner to rest in, or sometimes just sit right in front of their enclosure waiting the keepers to put them back.

They’re curious, food-motivated little characters and can become very familiar with the routines and people around them. ❤️

How clever are they?! 🤣🐢⭐

Come and meet our Indian Star Tortoises and see their personalities for yourself! 🥰

🐍 MICKEY’S HAND-FED LUNCH… SORT OF FAILED! 😂😜

She grabbed it… then dropped it! 🤣

But don’t worry, Mickey picked it straight back up and gobbled her lunch down! 🥰🐍

A little fumble, but she definitely wasn’t going to let that tasty lunch go to waste! 😂😜

Good girl, Mickey! ❤️🐍

🐊💚BEHIND THE SCENES: THE CARE YOU DON’T ALWAYS SEE 💚🐍

Our amazing keepers always give the best of the best care to all our reptiles. 🥰

Behind the scenes, there’s a LOT of hard work that goes into keeping our animals’ enclosures clean, safe and healthy. From removing old substrate, scrubbing and sanitising every surface, cleaning ponds and hides, to putting in fresh new substrate, some of our larger enclosures can take days and days of hard work to complete! 💪🧽🧹

It’s hot, it’s sweaty, it’s messy… but our keepers put their heart and soul into it because our reptiles deserve nothing but the best. ❤️🐍🐊

🙌 My hat goes off to my amazing crew!
I’m so proud of the dedication and hard work you all put in every single day. ❤️

And here’s a little example of the end result… 🥰

🐊 Charlie, our freshwater crocodile, enjoying a little inspection of her freshly cleaned enclosure! 😂❤️

Happy crocodile, happy keepers! 🐊

This is the part of wildlife keeping you don’t always see, but it’s one of the most important parts. ❤️

⚠️ WARNING ‼️ This might upset you! 🐍

If you’re eating, you might want to look away or simply swipe away. 😂🥰

It’s been a while! Here’s a 5× speed-up video of Tigress, our Jungle Carpet Python, enjoying her meal, a medium-sized rat. 🐍🐀

Nature can be fascinating, but it can also be brutal! This is completely natural feeding behaviour and an important part of caring for our reptiles. ❤️

Viewer discretion advised! 👀

An Important Update From Serpentarium Wildlife Park 🐍❤️

Hello to all our Serpentarium supporters, our beautiful community of St Helens, and our friends across Tasmania. ❤️

Over the years, Serpentarium Wildlife Park Tasmania, has grown into more than just an indoor reptile exhibit. It has become a place where children conquer fears, families learn together, where beautiful connections are formed between people and wildlife.

Every snake, tortoise, and lizard in our care is part of our family. Behind the scenes there is daily feeding, cleaning, heating, lighting, veterinary care, and constant attention to ensure they live healthy, enriched lives.

Serpentarium is not just a reptile park. It is a safe haven for our communities children, our young volunteers, and our homeschool families... to experience reptiles in a safe and family friendly environment and learn to appreciate nature. It is a place where visitors often arrive as strangers and leave as family friends.

With rising costs and maintaining sustainable operations in caring for our animals we will be updating our policies and procedures moving towards 2027.

Serpentarium well have a new pricing structure from October 1, 2026.

Reptile interactions will still be included with our daily keeper presentation at 12PM noon.

For visitors who would love a more personalise interaction, a one-on-one encounter with our beautiful reptiles, this will now be offered as an optional add-on to the entry fee. A Single Encounter Ticket or Family Encounter Ticket can be purchased at check-in.

These pricing adjustments allows us to continue caring for our animals, to industry best practice to the highest standard, while keeping the Serpentarium a special place for everyone.

The Serpentarium collection of animals is only small; it’s a specialised and secure facility, which allows us to share our animals with you, and demonstrate the connection that we have with our animals.

We loved them and they received absolute enrichment in the personalised care and attention that they received.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, and your continued support. And we look forward to sharing our family again with soon!

Warmest regards,
The Serpentarium Family 🐍
