Recently members of the Springfield Fire Brigade and their families came together at Tambo Farm for our presentation night - a fantastic evening celebrating our brigade, our members and the families who stand beside us every step of the way.

The night recognised an incredible milestone of more than 200 years of combined service across our members, along with the presentation of 5 National Medals acknowledging years of dedication and commitment to protecting our community.

A special highlight of the evening was Captain Jason presenting the official naming of Tanker 2 in honour of our mate Pat- recognising his lifelong contribution, leadership and unwavering commitment to the brigade and community.

Congratulations to all award recipients and thank you to every member, partner, family member and supporter who makes our brigade what it is. 🚒

Last night at our biannual presentation, Springfield Fire Brigade proudly named Tanker 2 in honour of Patrick Clarke - a true pillar of our brigade and community.

Pat has been a member of the CFA longer than Springfield has even had a fire brigade, a remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about his lifelong dedication to protecting the community. Over the years he has held many roles within the brigade and wider group, including serving as Captain for 17 years, helping guide and shape generations of firefighters along the way.

Respected by all, Pat is a wealth of knowledge, an icon of the area, a mentor and someone looked up to by each and every member of the brigade. His commitment, leadership and passion for the community have put a lasting mark on Springfield Fire Brigade.

On the night, Pat was also recognised with:
• National Medal – 3rd Clasp
• CFA Life Membership
• 60 Years CFA Service Award

An incredible achievement for an incredible firefighter.

As Captain Jason said so perfectly, “Pat will always be on the truck.” 🚒👏

Today we celebrate all the amazing Mums and mother figures in our community - especially the incredible women within Springfield Fire Brigade who also pull on the yellow overalls and jump on the truck alongside the boys when the pager goes off. 🚒

Thank you for everything you do, both on and off the fireground.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Springfield Fire Brigade

🚒 Springfield Fire Brigade Community Update 🔥

With the Fire Danger Period now officially ended, we’re seeing an increase in burn-offs across our area.

If you’re planning to burn off, we strongly encourage you to register your burn. This helps emergency services know what’s happening and prevents unnecessary call-outs.

👉 Register your burn here:

https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/how-to-prepare-your-property/burning-off

👀 If you notice smoke in the distance, before calling Triple Zero (000), take a moment to assess the situation:
• Does the fire appear contained?
• Is there someone in attendance?
• Do those attending appear in control and not concerned?

When you do call 000, if the burn is registered, the call-taker may ask if it appears consistent with a planned burn and if everything looks safe.

Rest assured, we are always ready to respond to any emergency as it comes through.

Stay safe and burn responsibly.

Being part of a fire brigade is more than just responding to emergencies — it’s being part of a unique family.

Recently, one of our own has been doing it a bit tough. In true brigade spirit, our members came together, alongside support from our neighbouring brigades, to lend a hand where it mattered most.

Together, we cut, split, and delivered firewood to help keep our mate and his family warm over the coming winter months. 🪵🔥

It was a fantastic day, showing what community and camaraderie are all about - and it wrapped up perfectly with a well earned lunch back at the station.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time and effort to make it happen. This is what being part of the fire brigade is all about.

Sadly, we are not waking up to the Easter morning we had hoped for.

We are incredibly disappointed to report that within the last 48 hours, the Terip Terip CFA Station was broken into and robbed of vital life-saving equipment.

It is deeply disheartening to see this happen to a community that recently faced the devastating Longwood fire and is still working hard to rebuild and recover.

Our volunteers give so much—leaving their own families and properties during those fires, with some even losing their own homes. Waking up to find the station targeted and stripped of the very tools used to keep the community safe is a significant blow to morale today.

Much of the equipment taken was generously gifted to the Terip Brigade by others to help rebuild capacity after the fires. The stolen items include:

▫️ 1x Stihl MS391 FarmBoss chainsaw

▫️ 2x Chainsaws donated by the Yarck recovery hub

▫️ 1x Aussie quickfill pump with Honda motor - Model: QP-205SE/GX160P - Serial number: 1918074 (donated by the Christmas Hills CFA Brigade)

▫️ 1x Davey quickfill pump with Honda motor - Model: G8016-1 - Serial number: 07029 112052 (donated by the Christmas Hills CFA Brigade)

▫️ Jerry cans containing fuel

▫️ 1x Stihl RE108 Presssue Washer

▫️ 2x brand new GME TX6165 UHF handheld radios

▫️ 1x Stanley 2000kva generator

▫️ 1x Honda Brushcutter

▫️ 1x Starlink Mini

▫️ 1x Stihl chainsaw helmet

▫️ 1x Toolbag containing assorted tools

▫️ 1x Large set of boltcutters

This equipment isn't just gear—it is community property used to protect lives and homes. Seeing it taken from the volunteers who rely on it to help others is incredibly frustrating.

We need your help. Please share this post far and wide. If you saw anything suspicious around the Terip Terip fire station over the last 48 hours, or if you see this specific gear popping up for sale online or in the community, please do the right thing.

Contact Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at https://www.crimestoppersvic.com.au/report-a-crime/ with any information.
