Today, on National Sorry Day, we pause to acknowledge the Stolen Generations and reflect on the lasting impact of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, communities and culture.

This day is an opportunity to reflect on the truth of this history, the ongoing intergenerational impacts, and the importance of listening, learning and standing alongside survivors, families and communities.

At MFO, we acknowledge and pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, and to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. We honour their strength, resilience and continuing connection to Country, culture and community.

National Sorry Day is a time to reflect, listen and recognise that this history continues to shape lives today.

A huge thank you to for continuing to invite us into these important conversations, sharing insights into refugee health and the important role community services play in supporting families.

The session is a strong reminder that health is never just clinical. It is shaped by culture, migration journeys, trauma and lived experience. We are extremely proud of the strength and resilience within our CALD communities, and we continue to highlight the importance of understanding the whole person, not just treating symptoms.

A huge thank you to our amazing client, Anastasiia, for sharing her invaluable insights and lived experience with the students 💜

Over the past 30 years, more than 600 volunteers have contributed their time, skills and heart to MFO. To every volunteer who has been part of our organisation,, thank you we couldn’t do this without you!
