Not all licences are made the same 👀 When you ask to see your electrician’s licence, it’s important to understand the difference between types.

Some licences are made for specific reasons, while others permit a broader range of work that can be completed by the carrier.

For at-home electrical work the licence type best suited (and permitted) to complete electrical jobs at home is…

The silver licensed A Grade electrician’s licence ✅

🔴 Red permits electrical inspection work in Victoria (only of the type specified on the card, though)

🔵 Blue permits the disconnection/reconnection of low voltage equipment in Victoria (per the type on the card)

🟠 And orange permits electrical linework… that’s powerlines-specific!

For a job safely done by the right professional, always check the card type matches the work to be done.

✅ Look for the RCM – it shows the product meets Australian Standards for safety
❌ No RCM? Don’t gift it.
✅ Only shop with reputable sellers.

Earlier this month, we branched out to Hobart for the Arboriculture Australia National Conference, joining industry leaders to explore the future of vegetation management 🌿⚡️

Energy Safe’s Leesa Anderson (Snr Compliance Officer, Line Clearance) joined experts Matt Palmer, (Energy Queensland), Daryl Marshall (Asplundh Australia) and Vijay Vetrivel (Outgoing Chair of Utility Arborist Association Australia) in a panel discussion about harmonising vegetation management worker clearance requirements – an evergreen topic for industry workers up in the trees! 👷🌲

From advances in tree biomechanics and 3D scanning technology to sustainable canopy management approaches, it was a valuable opportunity to exchange insights with experts across the sector.

We’re proud to be a part of a national conversation supporting safer outcomes for industry workers, to ensure an energy safe future for all.
