A big thank you to our local Fire & Rescue team for visiting The Links South West Rocks today to carry out smoke alarm checks and provide valuable fire safety advice.

If it’s older than 10 years it should be replaced.

A smoke alarm that doesn't work is just a plastic disc on the ceiling.

Test yours every month. If it doesn't beep, replace the battery. If it's older than 10 years, replace the alarm.

Did you see it? ☄️

Reports of a bright flash over Sydney last night, possibly a meteor lighting up the sky for just a few seconds. About the same amount of time it takes to test your smoke alarm.

Last year, nearly half the homes damaged or destroyed by fire in NSW did not have a working smoke alarm! Be smart and take part in Smoke Alarm Action Day, and test your smoke alarm works! A working smoke alarm is your best early warning sign of a fire, giving you and your loved ones the chance to get out, stay out, and call Triple Zero (000).
