Sri Lanka made a strong presence at Fine Food Australia 2026, Australia’s premium trade event for the food service, hospitality and retail industries.

A total of 17 Sri Lankan food and beverage companies participated in the exhibition, with 12 companies featured under the Sri Lanka National Pavilion.

Sri Lanka pavilion drew significant attention from importers, distributors, retailers and industry stakeholders throughout the exhibition.

Consulate General of Sri Lanka, Melbourne facilitated the participation of "The Auburn", an Australian wellness brand offering premium Alba-grade Ceylon Cinnamon @ Fine Food Australia 2026.

The brand brings Ceylon Cinnamon from its family plantation in Sri Lanka, spanning more than 100 years to the Australian market.

Pleased to visit "Franklands Foods stall" @ Fine Food Australia.

Franklands Foods is an Australian importer and distributor of Sri Lankan coconut-based products, including coconut cream, coconut milk and coconut-related ingredients. Hello Pure coconut cream is produced at its source in Sri Lanka.

Franklands Foods has been supporting Sri Lankan coconut manufacturers and promoting Sri Lankan Products into the Australian foodservice and manufacturing sectors.

The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne organized first-ever Sri Lanka Pavilion at “Fine Food Australia 2026”, one of Australia’s leading trade exhibitions for the foodservice, hospitality and retail sectors. The exhibition is being held from 31 August to 3 September 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Sri Lanka Pavilion was officially inaugurated on 31 August 2026 by Pradeepa Saram, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne, along with officials of the Export Development Board.

A total of 12 Sri Lankan companies are participating in the Sri Lanka Pavilion, showcasing a diverse range of high-quality food and beverage products to the Australian and international markets. The participating companies include Akbar Brothers, Perera & Sons, Derana, Tradlanka (Ariya Food), Link Natural, Coconut Taprobane, Ocean Foods, HJS Condiments, K&D Foods, Saya International and Ceylon Coco Infresh. In addition to the companies participating under the Sri Lanka pavilion, several other Sri Lankan companies, including Omilco Export Pvt Ltd, SMR Consolidated, Fab Foods and Ceylon Biscuits showcased their products through individual stalls at the exhibition. Sri Lanka Tea Board facilitated the participation of Hedley’s Tea Pvt Ltd, highlighting the diverse range and quality of Sri Lankan tea.

The participation of Sri Lankan companies at Fine Food Australia provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the country’s diverse and high-quality food and beverage offerings, expand international market access and establish partnerships with key buyers and industry professionals from Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The Sri Lanka Pavilion has attracted considerable interest from importers, distributors, retailers and other industry stakeholders, while participating companies have also been provided with opportunities to engage in business-to-business meetings with prospective buyers and importers.

Visit Sri Lanka Pavilion at Fine Food Australia 2026

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Melbourne facilitated a trade delegation from the Sri Lanka–Australia–New Zealand Business Council (SLANBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) to Victoria, and arranged a business meeting with the officials of Global Victoria on 24 August 2026 at the “Victorian Investment Centre”.

The multi-sector delegation, representing IT, BPO, logistics, agriculture, venture capital, travel and tourism, financial services, food and energy, visited Victoria from 24-27 August 2026 with the objective of renewing trade partnerships, the engagement seeks to showcase emerging opportunities in Sri Lanka while reinforcing institutional links between government and business sectors in both countries. The visit was particularly significant as it marked the first visit to Victoria by a premier Sri Lankan business chamber delegation after a gap of 15 years.

The delegation engaged with Global Victoria officials to explore avenues for strengthening commercial partnerships and facilitating connections with Victorian businesses. James Edwards, Senior Regional Manager, South Asia & META of Global Victoria delivered a comprehensive presentation on Victoria–Sri Lanka’s economic relations, while Nik Guruprasd, Market Leader India & MENA, International Investment spoke on Victoria’s investment strengths. Ivan Veljkovic, Senior Trade Manager, Food & Fibre Exports, Global Victoria gave an insight to Victoria’s food and fibre strengths. The discussions provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange perspectives on emerging sectors and explore possibilities for enhanced business collaboration, investment and trade engagement between Sri Lanka and Victoria.

As part of the Melbourne programme, the Consulate General also facilitated a meeting between the visiting delegation and the Executive Committee Members of Sri Lanka-Australia Business Council on 25 August 2026. The interaction provided a valuable platform to exchange views and to explore potential areas of cooperation.

The CA Sri Lanka - Australia Chapter Inc also organised a business networking event on 26 August 2026, bringing together members of the Chapter, representatives of the visiting delegation and officials of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka. The networking engagement provided a further platform for professional interaction and the exchange of business ideas, while highlighting the important role of Sri Lankan professional and business networks in Australia in supporting closer economic engagement between Sri Lanka and Australia.

Jetstar has commenced a new direct service between Melbourne and Colombo, marking an important milestone as the first Australian airline to operate a direct service to Colombo. The inaugural Boeing 787 flight departed Melbourne Airport on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, with the new service operating three times a week.

Ahead of the commencement of the new route, a press conference was held at Melbourne Airport, where the Consul General of Sri Lanka, Pradeepa Saram, and the Boeing Fleet Manager at Jetstar Airways, Captain Paul Weatherstone addressed the media on the significance of the new service and its potential to further enhance connectivity between the two countries.

Joining the press conference, SVP & Head of Commercial at Melbourne Airport, Michael Cullen stated that the newly launched Melbourne-Colombo route is Jetstar’s 10th international destination and congratulated Jetstar team for bringing the new Melbourne-Colombo connection for operation.

The new service is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of tourism by making Sri Lanka more accessible to Australia travellers and the Sri Lankan community in Australia.

SriLankan Airlines has been the primary airline operating direct services between Colombo and Melbourne since 2017, currently offering seven flights per week. With the commencement of Jetstar’s new service, the number of direct flights between Melbourne and Colombo will increase to 10 flights per week, providing passengers with greater choice, convenience and connectivity.
