We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work and we pay our respects to the Elders both past and present. South Grafton Public School is an outstanding school which provides quality education for 590 students across a split campus. Our two separate campuses, while both maintaining the positive features of a medium school environment, access all the resources and

expertise that a large school can facilitate. Student welfare and well-being is a priority, and all students are encouraged to achieve success. We provide a very supportive and nurturing environment for students in which learning and collaboration is highly valued. South Grafton Public delivers an exciting, comprehensive range of programs that focus on individuality and creativity. Our school boasts proactive teaching personnel who have been recognised at state and regional levels for their professionalism and dedication to the development of successful teaching programs. Our teachers offer engaging, differentiated teaching programs that focus on individual student needs, resilience and collaboration and independent work habits. Some of our unique programs include – A district gifted and talented class (known as an OC class) which boasts the largest number of state identified gifted and talented students in the Clarence Valley; outstanding student concert band, recorder group, K-6 dance groups, multiple sporting teams and K-6 choir programs; specialised infants gymnastic and learn to swim programs; excellent opportunities to compete in a variety of sporting teams including demonstration skipping team; a unique Pre-School Playgroup Program – that prepares children for their first year in Kindergarten on a weekly basis. We also offer outstanding facilities including modern innovative classroom furniture in every room, a high-quality library with an additional small library located on the infants' campus, excellent playgrounds with equipment, two IT rooms and two halls and every learning space air-conditioned. Each classroom also has access to Interactive SMART Boards, Promethean Panels, computers, iPads and programs such as green screen recording, STEM share kits, 3D printing and coding which are an integral component of the teaching/learning cycle in all rooms. Online programs including Mangahigh Maths and Reading Eggs are also fully funded for all students to use. In 2018 South Grafton Public School received a recommendation from ACARA for outstanding NAPLAN growth in Years 3 to 5 and was also recognised for its outstanding growth in K-3 where it placed in the top 5% of all state schools in NSW. Thank you to Bunnings South Grafton for their generous donation of plants and potting mix to our K-2MC Gardening Club. Heidi, the Activities Organiser, kindly took Mrs McGrath on a tour of the plant section, where she selected a wonderful variety of vegetables and herbs. Our students have eagerly planted beans and snow peas and are delighted to be using their new Bunnings aprons. Well done K-2MC!

KAO have had a busy term so far. Students have been learning more sounds and heart words, writing sentences, exploring teen numbers and number combinations, and creating amazing artworks. It’s no wonder Mrs Oxenbridge calls them superstars every day. Well done KAO!

Mrs Heyman and Mrs McPhillips proudly represented our school at this year’s EDUtech conference in Sydney. Their presentation was a huge success and very well received by the audience. Mrs McPhillips also took part in an insightful open forum panel with other educators. Our school was also featured as the first story in the special edition T4L magazine: https://issuu.com/technology4learning/docs/magazinet4l_-_issue_35. What a fantastic recognition of our innovative learning community. Well done SGPS!
