The main purpose of the Philoptochos Society is to provide philanthropy, love and care through charitable acts. This is carried out in the spirit of the Greek Orthodox faith and traditions in conformity with its doctrines, canon, discipline, divine worship and customs. Our aim is to assist people who need help due to physical, mental, social or financial difficulties. Our concern for the aged and
frail in our community has resulted in fundraising for the creation of St Nicholas Nursing Home and Hostel. Our goal is to continue to extend this facility as the need arises. Our assistance is also offered to those who have suffered due to natural tragedies locally, nationally and internationally. We also assist the Greek Orthodox Church of St George in cooperation with the parish priests. We encourage young women to become active members of Philoptochos so that together all members can continue the charity, sisterly spirit and fundraising commenced by the foundation members.
