Don’t miss out - registrations are now open for the June Libraries Exchange.

This Village aims to support local government officers working in libraries in Queensland councils.

Libraries are often the heart of our communities and the days of libraries being solely about books are long gone. This means library officers need to be at the forefront of innovation and they strive to find means to support the ever-changing needs of their communities. The Libraries Village is a place to get together, share information, get updates on the latest innovations in services delivery and, ultimately, help each other improve the services we offer to our communities.

As the pace of change continues to grow exponentially, so does the need to constantly adapt and change. At its core, local governments have remained largely the same over many decades. Some have grown, both organically and through amalgamation, many have shifted priorities and new external pressures have come to the fore. However, structurally, there is a high level of consistency from decade to decade.

The 2026 Local Government Conference is an exploration of our possible futures and how we position the sector to meet them.

The 2026 Conference will be hosted from 8 - 10 September featuring conference sessions and social events.

Register by 10 July to secure the early bird rate!
