Today has had windy and wild weather with a spot of rain, so tonight infront of the fire we are planning the 2026 spring show season, while dreaming of warmer weather again ❄️

Who’s already planning their show season, and who hasn’t even thought about it yet?

🍔 It’s National Burger Day! 🍔

To mark the occasion, our two april born steers marked for our 2027 beef boxes are causing chaos everywhere they go (as usual)

We’re celebrating tonight by using some of our homegrown mince to fill our plates - if you’re using Ferguson Beef tonight send us a photo!

A question for all you beef fans out there- what do you look for when you are choosing a beef box purchase?

With demand higher than our current supply can satisfy over the next 12 months, we have a few options - but we would love to hear from you, our wonderful customers! Selling out in less than 5 minutes, and with no more mince and sausages even left in the freezer for after sales, we need to look at ways of increasing supply without compromising on the quality and local service you love.

💬 Let us know in the comments what you would prefer from our beef supply program!

Option A: Continue producing small beef box releases based on the availability of purebred Murray Grey steers from our herd and other hand picked quality herds with the same breeding morals and objectives as us. This will mean less beef available, but the same quality you have shown us that you love! All steers will be purebred Murray Greys, and all finished within our feeding program. We have some steers available to us, however they won’t be finished and ready for processing until approximately September.

Option B: Source high quality steers from other herds like in option A, however accepting non Murray Grey cattle into the program. This will result in more beef available, and more regularly with the aim of monthly beef box availability, but not purebred Murray Grey steers. These cattle will be finished within our feeding program on our farm, exactly the same as our previous steers have been, but may have slight differences to the purebred Murray Greys.

Option C: only release beef boxes using Ferguson Livestock Murray Greys. This option results in limited beef supply (with the next available boxes in 2027!) but maintaining the exceptionally high breeding and feeding standard we stand by.

Let us know in the comments below your choice! We love providing fresh, high quality beef to the Ballarat region while remaining affordable, so we definitely aren’t stopping!

The two Kentsie Ticketholder boys catching some sun the other morning before this cold snap. These two boys are great entertainment to watch.

Unfortunately we’ve only recieved a small amount of rain compared to the forecasts, but every drop counts 💧

We may have some quality females available later in the season, only available in order to reduce pressure on our limited feed sources.
Keep an eye on our page for information later on 👀

(And before anyone asks, no, Hovea, Uno and Vibe aren’t available, even if you offer us $1M 😂)

We’ve been quiet on social media, but don’t worry - we’re still here!

Tahlia has recently started a new exciting job, and Dan has been busy as usual, so we haven’t had much time to make posts.

However the cows are all happy, the calves are bouncing around and we are preparing for the winter chill ❄️

Happy Mothers Day to all those who make everything happen, both the two legged and four legged kind! 💐

After coming into this world with a thud (literally!), X4 has managed to tough it out through the coldest and windiest day of weather we have had all year. With a brief 20 minutes yesterday morning of blue skies, he ventured out from the trees for the first time, before retreating back once the weather turned again.

Since he arrived it had been windy and raining non-stop, with 15ml since his arrival! We are happy we are finally getting some rain, but the cold wind can bu**er off!

With 4 bulls for 4 calvings so far for 2026 (with X1 and X2 already rung to be steers), hopefully our two final calves for the first half of the year (due in June/July) give us at least one heifer calf 🤞

‼️If you’re squeamish, skip this video - calf birth

Last night just before 9.30pm, Wattledene Dawn gave us our Orcadia Park Tycoon baby!

A less than enjoyable arrival for this poor bull calf, with freezing cold wind and a bit of a drop, but he’s up and doing everything right, and tucked away out of the weather now.
As usual Dawn got the job done and calf cleaned up in less than an hour.

We now have a few weeks before the last two of our autumn calvers are due to Wattledene Dominator (2024 Supreme MG RMS Exhibit and top 3 Interbreed Senior Bull) which we are excited for!

AI calf number one has arrived - Meet X3!

Early this morning Ganado Debbie 14th gave us a lovely little bull calf by Michaelong Solid Gold, and she’s already bossing him around like a seasoned mum

With the weather turning pretty rough today, it may not be long until Dawn also gives birth

Cold wintery mornings are here, and everyone is getting their thick coats again 🔥
