The Matter of Facts follows former war correspondent Hamish Macdonald for a thrilling ride into the hostile frontlines of our global information. We are all navigating a digital ecosystem where truth and lies can be indistinguishable, and where information is created - at scale - to change what we believe, how we behave and who we vote for. If you want to build practical and relevant media literacy skills, this event is for you.
The ABC, in partnership with the Australian Library and Information Association and Western Sydney University, has developed this workshop to equip communities to better identify misinformation. The 2-hour workshop will include a presentation, guided discussion and an activity. Following the workshop, participants will receive links to resources to explore at home. Please note that this workshop has been developed around the ABC docuseries The Matter of Facts and includes resources and clips from the series.

Australian Poetry Slam gives Tasmanian poets, performers or storytellers the chance to express themselves through spoken word performance.

From the 8–17 September, free workshops and slam heats will be held at Libraries in Burnie, Rosny, Launceston and Kingston, led by poets and artists Dylan, Tasha and Ava.

The Tasmania State final will be held at Glenorchy Library on Saturday 19 September, hosted by Miles Merrill, founder of Word Travels.

Preserving the past, one page at a time.

A huge thank you to Di from Crave Book Restorations for sharing her knowledge and passion for the fascinating art of book and document restoration.

We loved learning about the care, patience and craftsmanship that goes into preserving treasured books. From worn covers and fragile pages Di showed us how these pieces of history can be carefully restored and preserved for many more years to come.
Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such an interesting afternoon!
