The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. It is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with 229 units located throughout New South Wales. The units comprise of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls. While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm operations

, the SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of New South Wales. The Service's trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters. The SES also assists other emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force , the NSW Rural Fire Service , the Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW .

Public Notice: Singleton SES will be holding an Evening training event on Wednesday 9/9/26.

The training will take place on the Darlington side of the Hunter River between Dunolly Bridge and the Railway Bridge.

This training will involve several SES personnel and vehicles.

Weather situation
A strong northwesterly flow will develop during early this morning ahead of a cold front that will sweep over parts of the state during the day. Winds will tend westerly during this evening in the wake of the front.

Winds are expected to ease across much of the warning area during late this afternoon and evening, though damaging winds may redevelop overnight in parts of the Snowy Mountains and South Coast Ranges and continue into Sunday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra and Batemans Bay.

Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Central West Slopes and Plains district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Safety advice
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.

It’s a wet start to the week for parts of the state with severe thunderstorms possible ☔️

Widespread moderate rainfall is forecast Monday to Wednesday morning, mainly along the ranges and western slopes on Tuesday.

For inland NSW and the ranges, localised heavy rainfall, flash flooding, damaging winds and large hail are all possible Tuesday before shifting along the northern coast and ranges on Wednesday.

Conditions are expected to settle late Wednesday or Thursday.

⚠️ A minor flood warning has been issued for Tumut River due to rainfall forecast from late Monday night into Tuesday.

🚗 Residents across the state are reminded to steer clear of floodwater. If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route. Flash flooding can be dangerous and unpredictable. Stay vigilant.

Established in 2006, the SOC has become the operational heartbeat of the NSW SES, providing a central point for coordinating responses to floods, storms, rescue incidents, land search, and other emergencies in every corner of NSW.

Over 20 years, thousands of volunteers and staff have worked from or supported operations from the centre.

While technology and emergency management has changed a lot over the past 20 years, the commitment of the people working within it has not.

We're proud to celebrate this milestone and all the incredible work that has been achieved along the way 🥳
