The Consumer and Community Involvement Program brings together and supports consumers, community members and researchers to work together in partnership to make decisions about research priorities, policies and practice. Our vision is for consumer and community involvement to become standard practice in research activities. We are committed to embedding the community voice into health and medical

research through our services, resources, events and training programs. The CCIProgram welcomes you to our online community. We encourage you to contribute to our page and be considerate and respectful when posting or commenting. Any posts deemed to be offensive will be removed. Have you had early screening for Cancer (bowel, breast, lung cancer etc.)? Would you prefer to have this screening done once rather than multiple different cancer screening tests?

This research represents a first step in developing a non-invasive cancer screening test that can detect multiple different subtypes at once. The current cancer screening landscape is organ-specific, meaning individuals often need to undergo multiple different cancer screening tests in order to complete a comprehensive screen.

Consumers will be required to attend regular quarterly meetings with the research team to integrate their lived experiences in all phases of research planning, recruitment, and implementation. Consumers who are interested may also be asked to be involved in the research itself, which would involve a one-hour appointment at the Lions Eye Institute Nedlands.

Researchers are developing a specialised PET scan that may detect infections and inflammation anywhere in the body, including cases that cannot be identified through standard imaging or blood tests.

The transition from paediatric to adult diabetes services is often a difficult time for young people. Competing demands for time and changing priorities can affect the management of diabetes, and young people may find themselves struggling to manage their diabetes as effectively as they did before being discharged from their paediatric diabetes centre.

We are seeking Research Buddies to help shape a study that aims to examine the effects of the transition from paediatric diabetes to adult diabetes services. Research Buddies will work alongside clinicians to help define the most important observations to monitor during the transition process, establish a method for approaching and following up with young people who have recently completed their transition to adult services.

Experience required:
You should have recently completed their move from paediatric diabetes services to adult diabetes services and should be prepared to share their experiences surrounding the process.
