Light Horse Memorial Park comprises 150 HA of open space. Ideal for passive leisure activity in a natural setting. The Waler Paddock is certainly a spectacular part of Australian Light Horse Memorial Park. After years of preparation of the underwater habitat, 400 native fingerings have been introduced to the dam. This is another example of your park being the balance of the historical, recreational and environmental gem just outside of the Seymour township, ready and waiting for your visit.

The 4th/8th Lighthorse troop were given special permission to set up camp in the Waler Paddock. Their representative, George Colman presented our tireless committee member, Peter Willis with a generous donation of $500 for the Australian Light Horse Memorial Park.

The end of year gathering was spent in the Waler Paddock with the Australian Light Horse Memorial Park Committee of Management and friends of the park. Special guests were members of The Lions Club of Seymour whose continuing support is always appreciated. The new seats around the park were made possible by their generous donation.

Before yesterday's storm hit, a dedicated band of committee members gave the park an extra spruce up before the Christmas rush. Grass mowed, paths and picnic shelters swept, fallen limbs cleared away...and plaques put on the new benches acknowledging the fabulous support the Lions Club of Seymour has provided in making them possible. Over in the Waler Paddock you will see the original plaques from the Puckapunyal Tank Museum (former home of the train carriage) have been installed. Of course it wouldn't be a trip to the park at this time of year without marvelling at exquisite array of wild flowers and native grasses still in bloom, including a rare variety of magenta chocolate lilies just over the Bailey bridge near the information boards.
