✨ What a massive weekend for the VICSES Seymour ladies! ✨

We are incredibly proud to celebrate two fantastic achievements by members of our Unit.

Congratulations to Kelly Mcleish on graduating from the 10-week Ready2Lead Program delivered by Life Saving Victoria. Over the past few months, Kelly has challenged herself, built new skills, expanded her networks and continued her commitment to serving our community. We look forward to seeing her continue to grow as a leader within VICSES.

We would also like to congratulate our Controller, Christine Welsh, who was awarded the VICSES Excellence Award in the Values category. This award recognises members who consistently demonstrate the VICSES Values through their leadership, actions and service to others.

Both achievements reflect the dedication, passion and commitment that Kelly and Christine bring to VICSES Seymour every day.

Congratulations to you both – your Unit is incredibly proud of you! 💙🧡

Tomorrow is Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) — a day to recognise and thank the incredible SES volunteers across Australia who give their time to support communities during storms, floods, rescues and emergencies. 🧡
If you see our volunteers out and about tomorrow, make sure to say hello and wear something orange to show your support for the amazing work SES volunteers do every day.

Today at SES Seymour Unit we hosted a Traffic Management course for 6 of our members, continuing to build the skills and knowledge needed to keep our community and crews safe on scene.

The course gave members hands-on experience in setting up safe work zones, managing traffic flow and working effectively in roadside environments — an important part of many SES operations.

Training like this helps ensure our volunteers are prepared to operate safely and confidently at incidents across our region.

Thankyou to Norm, Holly, Sean, Kelly, Jo and Dave who gave their time this weekend to complete this course 👏👏

Today we would like to take a moment to recognise and thank all of the incredible mothers within our VICSES family.

To our volunteer mums, thank you for everything you do — not only for your families, but for your community as well. From responding to storms and rescues, to attending training, supporting fellow members, and somehow still managing the endless job of being “mum” in between, your dedication does not go unnoticed.

The care, strength, patience and compassion you bring to both your families and our unit make our organisation stronger every single day.

We would also like to wish all mothers, grandmothers, step mums, foster mums, carers, and mother figures a very happy Mother’s Day. We hope today brings you the love, appreciation and recognition you truly deserve.

Thank you for all that you do — today and every day. 💙

Congratulations to SES Seymour Unit Controller Christine on being officially invested with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

Today marked a truly special occasion as Christine received this well-deserved recognition for her outstanding service and dedication to the community. We are incredibly proud to see her commitment, leadership and years of volunteering recognised at such a high level.

This honour reflects not only Christine’s tireless efforts, but also the strong spirit of community, volunteering and service that she has supported throughout the years. Seymour SES is extremely fortunate to have such a passionate and dedicated leader within our unit.

Congratulations Christine on this incredible achievement — a proud and memorable day for you, your family and our entire SES community.

Last night SES Seymour Unit had Mia from Ambulance Victoria visit to deliver a valuable familiarisation session for our members.

Mia walked the team through an ambulance, showing where key equipment is stored, what it’s called, and how it’s used—giving our volunteers a better understanding of how we can support paramedics on scene.

Being able to go over the ambulance in a calm, controlled environment is a huge benefit, helping our members build confidence and ensuring we can perform at our best when it matters most on the road.

We also revisited our CPR training and had a great discussion around becoming GoodSAM responders, exploring how we can further support our community by assisting during cardiac arrest events before paramedics arrive.

A big thanks to Mia for taking the time to share her knowledge and help strengthen our inter-agency teamwork 🚑👏

Today, members of VICSES Seymour had the privilege of attending the ANZAC Day service here in Seymour, standing alongside our community to honour and remember those who have served.

ANZAC Day is a time that reminds us of the courage, sacrifice and dedication of the men and women who have served our country—past and present. We are incredibly proud of our nation and deeply grateful for those who have given so much to protect it.

It is always a humbling experience to come together with our town, to pause, reflect and pay our respects. The sense of community, respect and remembrance shown each year is something truly special.

Lest we forget.
