Over the weekend, CFA (Country Fire Authority) crews attended multiple fires that were started by angle grinding or welding on days of Total Fire Ban.
As we said, no, just NO!!!
Hot work, including welding, grinding and cutting are banned on a day of a Total Fire Ban, you can face heavy penalties including fines of up to $47,421 and potentially up to 2 years in jail if you are caught doing hot work. You will also be legally and financially responsible for any damage your hot work started fire causes.
