It’s just not worth it, running the risk on Total Fire Ban days 🔥🔥🚨🚨🚒🚒

No, just no.

Over the weekend, CFA (Country Fire Authority) crews attended multiple fires that were started by angle grinding or welding on days of Total Fire Ban.

As we said, no, just NO!!!

Hot work, including welding, grinding and cutting are banned on a day of a Total Fire Ban, you can face heavy penalties including fines of up to $47,421 and potentially up to 2 years in jail if you are caught doing hot work. You will also be legally and financially responsible for any damage your hot work started fire causes.

🚫 🔥 A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Mallee, Wimmera, South West, North Central and Central Fire Districts - Saturday 22 February 2025.
No fires can be lit, or be allowed to remain alight, in the open air from 12:01 AM until 11:59 PM. Stay informed: www.cfa.vic.gov.au/firebans.

As we remember this devastating period. We honour the First Responders and 000 Calltakers, Dispatchers & Staff that worked tirelessly to save properties and lives. We must never forget the lives lost. And that we all work forward to try and improve on lessons learnt. 💐

Today we reflect on the significant impact of the February 2009 bushfires and devastation they caused across Victoria.

We remember the 173 people that lost their lives, and honour the tens of thousands of CFA members and emergency service personnel that were involved in the response.

We take time to recognise the communities affected by the event, and those who to this day still feel the impacts.

Together, we remember 🎗️💛
