Parents are regularly found within the classrooms extending the learning of the students and working collaboratively with the teaching staff. The students enjoy strong camaraderie through the wearing of school uniform, the regular Friday celebration assemblies, the school song, school choir and our vibrant community spirit. Our school is the only WA institution awarded an 'Courageous and Inspired Community' award from NAPCAN

On Wednesday all of our students gathered in the library for National Simultaneous Story time. They listened to the story of Luna Roo and reflected on some it’s key messages about team work and perseverance.
Our oldest students in Year 5 and 6 visited our youngest students in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary and worked together to design book covers on the tablets, create puppets to use in the puppet theatre and a range of other activities related to the text. 😊

Our Kindergarten, Pre-Primary and Year 1 mums were treated to an afternoon of pure joy on Thursday at our annual Mums’ Garden Party. The children began by singing’You Are My Sunshine’ and ‘This Little Light of Mine’ with lots of love and gusto. They then pampered their mums with manicures, massages, bracelet and biscuit making and they even got to sit to have their portraits done at our ‘paint and sip’ (cups of tea and coffee 😊) table. It was so special to see the delight on our mums’ faces as their children proudly tended to them.

We would like to wish all of our wonderful Sawyers Valley Primary School Mums a Happy Mothers Day! 🌻

Today we held our Anzac assembly and all of the students from Kindergarten to Year 6 attended. Our Year 6 leaders were outstanding in the way that they shared the significance of Anzac Day and organised this event. We also heard some heartfelt stories from students about their family members that were involved in war and how they commemorate Anzac Day. Our school choir sang beautifully and the assembly concluded with the laying of a magnificent wreath created with the many donations of flowers from our students and their families. Thank you to everyone who joined us to honour and remember those Australians that have been involved in war and conflict in the past and give thanks for the freedom that we enjoy in our country.
Lest we forget.

Last Thursday our Kindergarten to Year 2 students went on a fabulous excursion to the Constable Care Safety School. They practised being a safe pedestrian as they walked around the Safety School village. It was just like being in the city with all of the pedestrian crossings, crosswalks and railway crossings that we don’t see much of in the Perth Hills. They played a road safety game and listened to ways they could be a safe passenger when traveling in the car. Then they practised being safe on wheels with each of them riding a bike around the Safety School streets. We were amazed at how responsible the children were at following all of the road rules at roundabouts and crosswalks! We were also so proud of the way each child took to riding unfamiliar bikes so confidently and competently. This wonderful day was a culmination of all of the learnings about road safety which has been a focus this term as part of our whole school health plan. Just in time for a safe holiday on the road for all of our precious little people! 🚲🚶

Our Sawyers Valley Primary Kindy Bears have begun their journey to their new homes and will be delivered to our 2026 Kindergarten children in the coming days. These little bears will spend the Summer holidays getting ready for next year with their new owners and enhance the transition from home to school. We are looking forward to getting to know them and our youngest students more as they begin their educational journey with us.
