Have you attended one of our spring Wildflower Walks yet? ๐ŸŒธ

Knowledgeable volunteers will take you on a guided tour through one of our heathland reserves, to learn more about the reserveโ€™s history and the local indigenous flora and fauna that call the reserve home.

Join us for our upcoming Wildflower Wanders this Sunday 13 September:
๐Ÿ“ Bay Road Heathland Sanctuary: 2pm to 4pm
๐Ÿ“ Gramatan Avenue Heathland Sanctuary: 2pm to 4pm
๐Ÿ“ George Street Reserve: 10am to 12pm.

Tours run every 15 minutes, based on guide availability and demand.

No need to register, just make sure to wear appropriate footwear and be mindful that accessibility is limited.

More than 1,500 local football and cricket players call Brighton Beach Oval home, but the pavilion they rely on is no longer fit for purpose.

For a decade, Council and local clubs have been working towards a solution that better supports growing participation, particularly among women and girls.

Weโ€™ve seen strong support from local Members of Parliament to keep the Brighton Bowls Club onsite in the pavilion precinct and we are now calling for funding support to help us make this happen.

Watch the video to learn more about why this project matters. ๐ŸŽฅ๐Ÿ‘‡

Weโ€™ve just launched the Neighbourhood Watch Bayside Community Safety Guide in collaboration with Neighbourhood Watch Bayside ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

The guide includes practical info on protecting your property, who to contact when you need support, and simple steps everyone can take to improve community safety.

It's part of our ongoing commitment to responding to local safety concerns, alongside initiatives such as free tamper-proof number plate screws, mobile CCTV cameras and trailers, and planning for fixed CCTV in police-identified hot spots.

It encourages us to check in with the people around us.

At Bayside Libraries, connection is at the heart of what we do. Our libraries are welcoming places to spend time, meet others, learn something new, or simply enjoy a quiet moment.

This R U OK? Day, we invite you to visit your local library, start a conversation, try something new, or simply spend time in a warm community space.

It's free and everyone is always welcome.

Heads up! Itโ€™s swooping season ๐Ÿฆ…

Weโ€™re receiving reports of birds swooping around the municipality, and we ask residents to be cautious during this temporary period.

Native birds may swoop people and their dogs to protect their young during the 6 to 8 weeks between hatching and when the chicks leave the nest.

Weโ€™ve put together some tips to help you avoid being swooped (linked below ๐Ÿ”—).

Please do not harass, interfere or throw stones at birds or their nests, as this only makes them more aggressive and defensive.

All native birds are protected in Victoria, so we're unable to remove or relocate any native bird species.
