We are partnering with the Department for Energy and Mining, South Australia and proposing to provide a 20-year lease to host a community battery on a portion of Council land between Canna Road and Bridge Road, Ingle Farm as part of the emPowering SA program.

The emPowering SA program is an initiative of the Government of South Australia in partnership with AGL and local councils.

The batteries store excess energy from the grid when energy is abundant and makes the energy available at night, during periods of high demand, or when the grid needs support. This scheme will benefit up to 10,000 South Australian government nominated households to assist with reducing energy costs.

The proposed community battery will be placed on a concrete slab and enclosed within a fence that will be designed in conjunction with the City of Salisbury to ensure it meets Council, community, and project expectations for visual appearance, security, and maintenance.

Have your say on the proposed battery by 5pm Thursday 2 July.

A report will be provided to Council for consideration prior to entering a lease.

For more information and to provide feedback, visit www.salisbury.sa.gov.au/haveyoursay.
