READY, SET, GLOW 🔦🏃‍➡️

Following on from the success of the Northern Gramps Girls Can campaign last year where council lit up exercise spaces in the early mornings, several of the shire’s sporting facilities are due to light up again in 2026.

Between May 4 and September 30, spaces in Stawell and St Arnaud will light up from 6pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and from 6am to 7am on Wednesday mornings.

📍St Arnaud: Lord Nelson oval will be lit up every Monday and Wednesday evening and Wednesday morning.

📍Stawell: North Park athletic track, infield and netball courts will be lit up every Monday and Wednesday evening, with the athletic track and infield also lit up on Wednesday mornings (no netball courts).

The campaign aims to encourage community members to be active in safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces following the end of Daylight Saving Time.

Now that summer has been and gone for another year and the pool is closed for renovations, we wanted to share a limited time offer available at Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre.

If you have a child you want to enrol in swimming lessons over the winter, you can access TWO WEEKS FREE when you sign up before the start of Term 2. This means they can develop valuable swimming skills in preparation for next summer and start ahead of the pack.

🚺 Today is International Women's Day 🚺

When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive and society becomes safer for everyone. This International Women's Day, let's Balance the Scales and celebrate women and girls across Northern Grampians Shire.

Balance the Scales is a promise that every woman and girl – regardless of background or identity – should be safe, heard, and free to shape their own lives. Yet in 2026, too many across Australia and the world are still denied that fair go. Discriminatory laws, policies, and practices persist. Gender-based violence remains widespread, and structural barriers block too many from seeking or receiving justice.

The Get Active Victoria Kids Voucher Program is open again!

Did you know we are a registered activity provider with Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre, and you might be eligible for up to $200 to put towards things like swimming lesson fees?

If you, your family or child has a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, we encourage you to apply for round ten but get in quick as voucher applications will close on April 2.

Vouchers can be applied to any fees from January 1, 2026. Given most families in St Arnaud have already paid your fees for lessons during the 25/26 summer period, you can apply for reimbursement for the period until the time of submitting your application.

👩‍🏫 Are you a school teacher, or do you have children or grandchildren and volunteer at a local school?

The Department of Education’s Water Safety in Schools initiative is offering FREE Swim Teacher training to help Victorian government schools strengthen their swimming and water safety programs.

If this initiative is something you are interested in, please contact your local school for further information or call Stawell Sports & Aquatic Centre on (03) 5358 0550 and ask to speak with Samantha Winter, Coordinator Recreation Leisure and Libraries.

There is a course available at SSAC in April which you could enrol into:

🏊‍♂️ Times available: between 9am to 5pm

This is a great opportunity to gain new and highly in-demand skills while supporting your school's swim program and teaching children lifesaving abilities. Wins all around!

Due to the St Arnaud Piranhas swim meet today the pool will be closed to the public till 4pm.

As per our Outdoor Pool Weather Policy, we will be opening today Thursday February 12 on restricted hours

🕛6am to 8am
🕛 4.30pm to 7pm

All swimming lessons have been cancelled, parents please check your emails and text messages.

Water aerobics will be running at 4.30pm and swim club at 6pm.
