National Volunteers Week- Last Week May 18 to 24th 2026

Thought we’d extend our thanks to the many volunteers in and around Rutherglen. There’s a couple of hundred of you at the least covering many diverse roles, functions and much needed contributions. These very contributions make Rutherglen such a special place to live and visit. They save local government, our local council, money and resources because volunteers contribute much willingly.

Last week, National Volunteers Week was signified by council through lighting up the Beechworth Precinct and publicising it digitally.

We’d like to give a more personal and connective thank you to each and every individual and group that volunteers tirelessly in and around the Rutherglen area. We work with some of you and your dedication and help in sharing your skills with other groups and volunteers is amazing.

A town icon resonates more with the specific town its volunteers contribute towards. So here’s our grand old bottle tipping its lid to you all as a sign of respect and appreciation for the many hours of dedication and commitment you put in year in and out.

Thank you - volunteers are gold!

Hi all,

A message from Angela and Max, our intrepid and tireless collectors for recycled cans and bottles.

Angela and Max have tirelessly collected for us on behalf of the Wine Bottle Committee over a lengthy time period, and in order to raise some much needed revenue.

It has been a marvellous initiative and a wonderful selfless deed for a young person like Max to have thought of doing. Needless to say Max is our mega-star 🌟 and an honorary friend of the Wine Bottle.

Hi all,
This is the last week that we can recycle at the Metro petrol station as they are ending their arrangements with Visy, so we are asking anyone to take their cans/bottles and to mention Max’s bottles or to call me to collect them. I will take them. If the regular people we collect from would like us to pick up please let us know. It was a great initiative and also many thanks to all the people who have donated their cans and bottles for this great worthy cause, our loved old Wine Bottle. .

Kind Regards,
Angela and Max 😊 🙏

The Wine Bottle is opening in the morning early for visitors. It’s going to be a stinker of a day so we are not sure how long we will run into the morning but we will give it a good crack until it’s not ideal to remain open.

8.45 OPENING - for a few hours until til it gets too hot. 🌶️ 🌞 🥵

See you there and thanks for supporting us each time we open.
