Victoria has heated up with Extreme and Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings in place for today and tomorrow in our area.

A few things to keep in mind:

🏠 Stay Indoors as much as possible and turn on cooling devices

💧Keep hydrated with water and electrolytes

🪟 Keep windows and curtains shut to keep the home cool

🐈 Ensure pets have access to fresh drinking water, in shaded areas if possible

🚗 Never leave pets or children in vehicles, including ute trays. Temperatures inside vehicles can become fatally hot within just minutes.

👵🏼 Check in on loved ones, neighbours and vulnerable community members

🔥 Know your Fire Escape Plan and tell someone what your intentions are. Leave early, do not wait until it is too late to leave.

🧳 Have a Home Emergency Kit packed and ready to go. Be sure to include water, chargers, medication, pet and baby supplies, important documents, batteries, torch etc

🚨 Stay informed though local radio, news updates, VicEmergency website and downloadable app, Bureau of Meteorology, CFA (Country Fire Authority), and Victoria State Emergency Service pages.

🎄🚗 A Holiday Reminder 🚗🎆

As we head into the Christmas and New Year period, please take a little extra care on the roads. There will be more traffic, longer journeys, and plenty of distractions, so please slow down, stay alert, and be patient with one another.

If you’re driving, buckle up, put the phone away, never drive tired or impaired, and give yourself plenty of time to get where you’re going. Arriving a few minutes late is always better than not arriving at all.

Let’s do our part to make sure everyone gets home safely to their loved ones this holiday season. 🏡

Santa is swapping his sleigh for the SES truck again this year on Wednesday 17th December to spread a little Christmas joy! 🍬

Keep an eye and ear out for him in your street from 5:30pm onwards and be sure to come out and say hello 🎅🏼

*Please note, Santa will visit streets within the town boundary only but those from a little further out are encouraged to bring children to High street where Santa will also frequent throughout the night 🎄
