🚒 Thank You, Jamie 🚒

The members of Runnymede Volunteer Fire Brigade would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Jamie Innes as he concludes his time with our brigade.

Jamie's journey with Runnymede began as a junior/cadet member, before progressing to become an active firefighter. Throughout his years of service, Jamie attended numerous incidents both within our local brigade area and further afield whenever assistance was required. He has also made valuable contributions to our juniors and cadets program and further developed his skills through specialist training, including Road Crash Rescue (RCR).

Jamie's commitment, willingness to help others, and dedication to serving the community have been greatly valued by our members and the wider brigade family.

While we are saddened to see Jamie move on from Runnymede, we are pleased that he will continue his firefighting journey as a member of Midway Point Volunteer Fire Brigade. We have no doubt he will continue to make a positive contribution to the Tasmania Fire Service and the communities he serves.

On behalf of everyone at Runnymede Volunteer Fire Brigade, thank you, Jamie, for your service, friendship, and commitment over the years. We wish you every success and happiness in the future and look forward to seeing you around the fire service for many years to come.

🚨📲 If you'll be in or around Launceston about 11am today - your mobile devices may receive a test alert which includes a loud siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds.

If receiving the test could disrupt you, or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, please keep reading to find out how to turn a Priority Alert off on your device. 📲🚨

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, we need to test the system in communities across Australia, and Launceston, Tasmania, has been chosen as a test location.

About 11am on Monday, 15 June 2026, if you are in or around Launceston, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The AusAlert test in your area is a Priority Alert. It will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. If receiving the test could disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, visit the AusAlert website at ausalert.gov.au to find out how to turn a Priority Alert off on your device.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

Training is a vital part of being prepared to respond when our community needs us.

Today members participated in operational training, focusing on map reading, local area familiarisation, and vehicle capabilities. These skills help ensure our volunteers can safely and effectively navigate incidents and support firefighting operations across our district.

Regular training allows our brigade members to build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and maintain the skills required to respond to a wide range of emergencies.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and continues to dedicate their time to serving our community.

Today we recognise Thank a First Responder Day and acknowledge the dedication of volunteers across the country who step forward when their community needs them most.

For 45 years, the members of the Runnymede Volunteer Fire Brigade have been there—responding to emergencies, supporting their neighbours, and working quietly behind the scenes to keep our community safe. This commitment, given freely and often under challenging circumstances, reflects the very best of community service.

We thank all current and past brigade members for their time, effort, and continued readiness to respond. Your service does not go unnoticed.
