Community Update: Playground Inspections

As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to community safety and responsible asset management, independent inspections and testing are regularly undertaken across Council’s playgrounds.

Given Roxby Downs remote location and extreme heat, Council places additional focus on playground assets, as local environmental conditions can accelerate wear and deterioration of equipment and impact surfaces.

Recent findings have been assessed through Council’s established risk-management processes and summarised in a report to the Audit and Risk Committee, which is publicly available on Council’s website.

Appropriate controls are being implemented. Any equipment or areas assessed as not fit for continued use will be isolated, temporarily closed or removed from service until the identified risk has been addressed. Safe and serviceable areas will remain available for community use.

Community safety remains Council’s priority, and identified issues will be addressed in a planned and timely manner, with the highest-risk items attended to first.

Roxby Council will hold a Meeting of the Audit & Risk Committee at 10:00am on Friday 16 October 2026 in the Council boardroom at 6 Richardson Place, Roxby Downs.

This meeting is open to the public. Members of the community are welcome to attend either in person in the Council Office Boardroom at 6 Richardson Place or via Microsoft Teams at https://bit.ly/ARCOctober2026

SPORT & RECREATION COORDINATOR

⭐ Help Shape an Active, Connected and Thriving Community⭐

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building strong community relationships and coordinating programs that encourage participation, inclusion and healthy lifestyles.

As the Sport and Recreation Coordinator, you will be the key point of contact for local sporting clubs, community group, facility users and community members regarding sport and recreation enquiries, bookings, programs and activities.

✨ What you'll be doing:

👉Coordinate and support the delivery of sport and recreation services, programs and activities within Roxby Link.
👉Maintain seasonal sport and recreation timetables.
👉Maintain accurate sporting club and stakeholder information.
👉Support facility bookings and activities.
👉Assist with the planning and delivery of community sport and recreation initiatives.
👉Identify suitable grant opportunities, prepare and coordinate applications and manage grant requirements including acquittals, reporting, documentation and project outcomes.

🙌 About you:

👉Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
👉Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
👉The ability to manage competing priorities and remain adaptable in a busy environment.
👉A customer-focused approach with a commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
👉Experience in a recreation centre, community services, sport, leisure or similar environment.
👉Experience or qualifications in administration, coordination, community services, sport and creation or a similar environment.
👉Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
👉Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
👉Experience working with community groups, sporting clubs or other external stakeholders is desirable.
👉Experience in preparing grant applications and/or administering grant-funded projects is desirable.

As the Sport & Lifestyle Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the operations of the Roxby Link facility, leading a dedicated team and delivering programs and activities that create positive experiences for community members.

✨ What you'll be doing:

👉Leading, supporting and developing a diverse team to achieve operational excellence.
👉Supervising Facility Supervisors and supporting the Sport & Rec Coordinator.
👉Coordinating sport, recreation and wellbeing programs and activities.
👉Supporting community events and initiatives that encourage participation and connection.
👉Ensuring Roxby Link provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
👉Maintaining high standards of facility presentation, cleanliness and customer service.
👉Supporting risk management, incident reporting and workplace health and safety practices.
👉Assisting with planning, budgeting, grants, procurement and continuous improvement initiatives.

👉Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
👉The ability to motivate, support and develop staff.
👉Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
